Perhaps we should surprise Florida State next season by scheduling a game for the prior week. We’d at least have a more level playing field.

According to Verge, you can only schedule a week 0 game if you or your opponent plays Hawaii that season.

You can’t just schedule a game on week zero. There are certain criteria you have to reach to get a waiver.

We already have 4 non-conference opponents scheduled.
0 of them have games scheduled vs Hawaii.
However, we could still schedule a game against Sam Houston St. or Portland State before we play at Clemson on 8/30/25.

Over the past 2 years only 12/32 teams that have played a week 0 game have won the following week.

If your program is established you shouldn't need a week 0 game. I would imagine with a competent head coach in his second year the team will be prepared.

Then how did FSU get a week 0 game? They're not playing Hawaii, maybe one of their opponents are? Otherwise, I have no idea.

This shite again huh? For the 3,000,000th time, we don't play Hawaii next year and we don't play an opponent who has to travel to Hawaii so we won't be eligible for a Week 0 game. You can't just magically schedule a Week 0 game. The only reason that FSU got a Week 0 game this year is because Duquesne travels to Hawaii and agreed to play FSU for their Week 0 opponent.

Duquesne plays at Hawaii this season so they get a 13th game including week 0. FSU gets to be their week 0 opponent but only get 12 games (so an extra bye)
