You’re right , they (coaches) know he’s talented, they went to him two straight plays as soon as we got the ball back. He was devastated after the second muffed punt, it was killing him.

No hate for Nabers, he made some good catches on that final drive including one thrown behind him. I'd just find someone else to field punts.

Kelly went right back to Nabers on the ensuing drive and he never missed any target all night

Kid made mistakes. Don’t hate him at all.

I was impressed that he sacked up and had two big catches on the final drive. No pouting on the sideline or wallowing in self pity. That’s heart in my book. That’s what we need.

I’m actually rooting for the kid. Would love to see him ball out.

Really grasping at straws for controversy there, huh?

You really consider me thinking he shouldn't be the punt returner going forward to be hateful? That's pretty weak, dude.

you got all this from me saying "ok?"

Agreed, there has actually been a lot of support for the dude. I love the way he came right back and caught the first two passes of the final drive. Let him play receiver and maybe get a chance to do punt return down the road.

It's this kind of attitude as to why our country is in such bad shape.

Yes that was an ABSOLUTE CLOWN MOVE to send him back there again. Kelly needs to take a good look in the mirror for that blunder.

Bringing up politics here is so unbelievably ridiculous.

Yes, and calling it a clown move in all caps like a Karen makes you a clown.

I'm not sure why this thread from Monday got resurrected, but there were definitely posts that crossed the line regarding Nabers on Sunday night.

One old school poster even got permanently banned for saying he should kill himself.

I guess Biko is ok with that kind of stuff and I'm just soft for thinking it was totally uncalled for and despicable.

I will never hate a kid who decides to play football for LSU

Hate is an insanely strong word

I want my team to succeed and get angry when they don’t. And that’s about it.

Punt returner is the one position on the field the you really do not know what you have till game time. you may catch 100% of the punts in practice and scrimmage and even in no-stress games, BUT you add stress to the situation and then you really know whether you have a punt returner.

Currently, we dont. I don't blame the kid. It is totally different from pass catching and hope he goes on to be an all-american pass receiver.

Nabers is not a "great" player. He has done nothing on the field (YET) to think he is anything special.

Obviously, he probably shouldn't be the punt returner anymore, but his mistakes weren't very costly in the end.

So instead of acknowledging the defense’s effect to prevent those points, you attack fans that are rightfully upset that he muffed those two punts? What a clown. Post less

Being a punt returner is not for the faint of heart. You have to stand there, tracking a ball 30-40 (maybe more) feet in the air, knowing the entire time there are some big, fast, men in a full 30-40 yard sprint coming at you SOELY to hit you as hard as they can. In most cases you are trying to catch the ball at the same time you are trying to avoid being crushed. It takes guts and a lot of uncoachable "feel" to do it well.

That said, Nabors looked very uncomfortable on every return, not just the punts. Unfortunately, he may be the best guy LSU has for the spot and the staff will have to live with the risk while he gains more experience and comfort in handling the role.
