Mike the Tiger and the Seminole mascot do battle in pregame of 1982 game for the Orange Bowl (note all the oranges flying on the field). This is a video from 1982 and quality is soso. Enjoy anyway.

I laughed out loud at Mike scalping the Seminole with a hatchet. Couldn't do that today.

Is that when Mike the tiger broke the spear over his knee? That gave me goose bumps

I was hoping the real tiger took a swipe at the Indian from his cage.

I was there for that game. It had me fooled for a while! It’s been 40 years but I seem to recall the “Seminole” riding onto the field on a horse with the flaming spear and he thrust the spear into the ground. Mike the Tiger then pulled the “Seminole” off the horse and the “fight” ensued.

It was a wild game with the oranges raining down and the fog rolling in.

My first trip to TS. The fog rolling in as the 4th quarter, oranges flying through the air and a trashed old coonass staggering around swigging out of a fifth of Jack are my most vivid memories. Awesome experience.

I was there in student section on the 50 yard line. Students could sit on the 50 yard line back in those days if you arrived early and the tickets were free.
Great butt kicking of a game. Threw a few oranges.
