No smugness but it isn't 2005 anymore and there are about a dozen 13/14 year leagues in all of Louisiana.

This was much more recently than 2005, but ok. I know plenty of others that played little league and started multiple years in HS.

I also know many guys my age that played year-round travel ball growing up. Some of them got burned out by the time they got to HS and played another sport instead.

but it wasnt in LA was it? i was talking specifically for louisiana. i dunno how texas is, but in louisiana the litte leagues suck and when they are good its just because the travel kids come back....i.e. last 2 teams from LA to go to LLWS.

that happens with tons of kids, no matter the sport. in fact most players quit by 12, no matter the sport. and of course you can get burned out especially if your parents are the ones pushing, not your love for the game

in no shape or form did your exception change anything either. and even if you graduated in 2018....lots has changed in last 8 years since you last played ll and im telling you there are only like 10-12 total leagues in whole state of Louisiana for 13/14 year olds, little league, pony, DYB etc

if anything you are the one being smug about it. i did the same as you, guess what...i realize times and things have changed. It is what it is and i dont care if you like the changes or not, it is what it is and the sport doesnt care. either you are doing the things to get better or you arent.

fact of the matter is 98% of kids making the HS teams i listed played travel. every single player LSU signed...played travel, every pick in the top 10 rounds of mlb draft either played travel or was part of an academy.

are there exception of just freak athletes....yep. But baseball is not football. Football you can you athletiscm to beat your man and overcome any skill defencies...much harder to do that in baseball. Combine that with the increased prevelance of better and stronger athletes in baseball and you have a recipe for younger athletes that are not doing everyhting possible to fall behind.

and you absolutely can train for baseball and improve your metrics and overall game using data driven metrics for the skills and in the weightroom. despite what some old school guy thinks when he says either you have it or you dont. There is a reason drivelines, ATP, CSP, Bill Miller, Texas/Florida baseball ranch, topvelocity are all so successful in getting the athletes insane results.
