re: I hope this continuing Trump saga teaches this board that LEO is your enemy

We are fortunate in our area to have the same situation with local small town law and county Sheriff's office.
Same here, hell, 2 in our county farm peanuts and cotton on the side. You’d about have to go up to them and slap them to go to jail. The broad brushing of any profession is stupid. I do question though if we really need federal investigative agencies any longer due to the widespread corruption and continued infringement on rights.

That's too much for one post without me really cranking back, but within this specific area:
1. Search warrants must require a higher standard than probable cause. The "unreasonable" standard of the 4th Amendment should be clear/convincing at a minimum.
2. Any source used must be publicly named. All warrants must be public and provided to the person.
3. The items and areas within the structure must be specifically located. No more generic "there are drugs somewhere on this property" vagueness that permits a literal fishing expedition.
4. Scaling back of exceptions to the warrant requirement, especially with respect to cars. This isn't the 70s anymore and you can get e-warrants very easily and in a matter of minutes. The arguments the court used to expand policing power without warrants simply don't make sense today.
5. More expansive Civil and criminal actions for LEO who use warrants improperly. LEO should be held to the highest standards.
1. I can accept this for the most part.
2. The problem with getting cooperation with law enforcement is bad enough, this would make it impossible for fear of retribution.
3. Agree
4. Agree
5. If LEO are to be held to the highest standards, then pay, requirements and training will have to match. And if you make LEO liable to civil prosecution, you might as well shut down any law enforcement outside of central shock troops.

Well the attorneys aren't involved at the warrant stage, at least in state court. Federal is more involved.
Any prosecutor who participates in the manufacturing of questionable evidence or fraudulent evidence should face the same consequences.
Kind of like officers lying on the stand. Knowingly eliciting testimony that a reasonable person should know is false should have consequences (for defense and prosecuting attorneys)

One thing I have definitely learned over the years posting here, is I will never talk to a LEO or DA without asking for a lawyer for me to be present. No matter how innocent I am.

The problem with the OP is that every criminal reform leftists push is racially based and pushed by false narratives which just increase violent crime. I agree with the premise though. That doesn’t mean I’m going to join the leftists on their racial crusade and go along with their lies to push the agenda.

About that polarization...

There’s a proverb of something to the effect of “laws that have to be written down are useless.”
Confucius said that forcing a person to follow a law only means they follow it to avoid punishment for not following it. But it does nothing to make them a better person.
And if you talk about that, then the brainwashed millennials and younger only make fun of Confucius because the internet brainwashed them by the age of 14 I guess

What did I say that was false?
Every time leftists push criminal justice reform its “black people this, black people that..” They aren’t interested in reform that’s actually beneficial to society. I’m willing to push for our own reform but I’m not going to go out and support BLM or anything like that.

We need to start treating individual LEOs like we treat everyone else. No more just looking at the uniform and automatically assuming they are a good person. Treat the assholes like the assholes they are.

I'm not anti police but after covid I'll never trust any of them again. Most failed miserably when responding to the federal or state governments taking away our freedoms.

Just what this country needs.
Lawyers, who lie and twist facts to make their living, telling folks LEO is their enemy.
Would you call "your enemy" when some thug KO's you at the gas pump and steals your Beemer?

It amazes me how people continue to lick the boots while they are firmly pressed on their necks.

It probably started to decay much earlier. Turn of the century?
Prosperity is a cruel taskmistress.
It’s cumulative, but it’s reasonable to believe that the effects of the Industrial Revolution at the turn of the century played a part.
The Roman Republic and then the Roman Empire both fell due to different and varied reasons, also.
The analogy that Dan Carlin likes to use of the wooden shoes going up the stairs and the silk slippers coming down the stairs comes to mind.

I want the whole damn thing defunded. From the Fed to the city dog catcher.
Nothing will change unless its burned to the ground.
LEO'S and departments are all the same, they want increased power.
Which means "we the people" have less.
Corruption feeds the corrupt.
