For those familiar with history of chess competition, where would Carlsen rank among the greats such as Morphy, Capablanca, Fischer, Kasparov etc?

I mean the cat simply does not lose, and he seems to excel in all forms of chess be it classical or speed.

He's probably the goat. Slightly better than Kasparov.
Then it's probably:
Tier 2: Anand/Karpov/Fischer.

For Magnus, it's not just in Classical; it's also rapid and blitz. He dominates all of it.

He's probably going to keep playing rapid and blitz and just retire from classical.
I think he's motivated to get to 2900. And with all of the draws and grind that comes along with classical, it doesn't really motivate him to play.
I mean, what's the point? We all know he's probably still the best regardless of which usurper holds the title.
