New Orleans sure looks like crap these days.

Haven't lived or really driven in the city for more than a decade. Browsed the city via 'Google Maps' today. Mostly checking out main thoroughfares I remember (Canal, Claiborne, Elysian Fields, Franklin, St. Claude, etc.)
Holy shite. I remember abandoned buildings post Katrina, but this is next level. I've never seen so much graffiti on businesses, schools, homes. It honestly looks like some post-apocalyptic zombie movie set. Unbelievable.
I honestly think the city looked better two weeks after Katrina.

The city is in the crapper, but most of these streets have looked like dumps for a very long time

Small price to pay for getting rid of statues.

They looked like a dump before but no way near as bad as now.

Yeah those areas are shitholes

911 days without spending a dollar in that parish and no end in site to the streak

New Orleans is in bad shape, terrible actually, but I am not sure cruising Google Maps gives a good indication of how good or bad a place is.

Sure fire way to get upvotes on the OT, just shite on Nola.

It’s fricked. But the Katrina comment is just dumb.

What can you honestly say good about it, other than "there are some good restaurants"?

Time stamp said 2022.
I also adjusted the time view to look at older versions of the same streets.

Uh yeah, that's not exactly a representative sampling of the city. That's like intentionally picking the worst areas for your sample size.

I think it's very representative of the city. Intentionally picking the best areas and pretending the rest of the city is fine is probably what you'd prefer?

Did you think Claiborne, Elysian Fields, or Franklin looked like anything but crap last time you were here?

Perhaps it's more like nola's staunch defenders are frogs brought to a slow boil.
As someone who was there, with a long clean break... the difference between "then" and "now" is shockingly massive.
