It's ironic that the people who fought against these Confederate leaders never considered them as traitors
That is false as frick lol
A couple of examples for your consideration:
Joseph E Johnson and William Tecumseh Sherman became close friends after the war. Johnson served as a pallbearer at Sherman's funeral.
James Longstreet served as Ambassador to the Ottoman Empire and later as US Commissioner of Railroads.
John Singleton Mosby served as campaign manager for Ulysses S. Grant in the State of Virginia and later was appointed Consul to Hong Kong. He later served in the Department of Interior and Department of Justice.

Fort Braxton instead? We could go Braxtyn and really get modern?

There was a time when a group of people in the US rebelled due to heavy-handedness of their “leaders”. Some called them traitors, today we call them Founding Fathers and Patriots. Guess the term “traitor” depends on the eye of the beholder.

That doesn't mean shite. A simple search shows many Confederate Army leaders had to be pardoned by Lincoln with parole, and many from the North considered them traitors, but also realized the impracticality of trying so many for treason. Lee had to apply for amnesty.
I don't understand why you didn't see this in any of your research.
quote:
We do not interpret this [portion of Garland] to mean that the pardon creates the fiction that the conduct never took place. Rather, a pardon represents the Executive’s determination that the offender should not be penalized or punished for the offense.
That's from the Supreme Court in 1866

There has to be a Native American word that we can use.

Braxton Bragg screwed the pooch at Chickamauga and Chattanooga. You'd think that the Union would see him as a hero.
Don't forget about his epic blunder during the Confederate Heartland Offensive. Bragg's force beat Buell's force in the race to Bowling Green and was in position to ambush about most of Buell's Army of the Ohio which was hauling arse to get in between Bragg's Army of Mississippi and Louisville. Buell had no idea that Bragg was anywhere close to Bowling Green and left no guard or fortifications in place to stop attack. If Bragg had attacked he probably defeated the Army of the Ohio and captured Buell. Defeating Buell would have forced the Union to withdraw Grant and Sherman from Memphis and North Mississippi to protect the Midwest. Bragg would have turned the war in the west around in one battle. Instead of attacking that disorganized and weary army, he goes on a 3 day detour to capture the 4,000 man garrison at Munfordville. Which gave Buell enough time to get his troops out of the ambush around Bowling Green and to march onto Louisville which put him in between Bragg and the midwest.
ETA: Don’t even get me started on General Polk. Why anybody would name bases after the two worst commanders to ever command an army or part of an army on the continent of North America is beyond me.

And your examples are only within a year of the war ending. The reconciliation between North and South is one of the most remarkable stories putting past grievances aside after such a brutal war in the history of mankind.
All of this South were traitors shite didn't appear until some communist professors in the universities started teaching shite history to the millennials.

Complete Horse shvt because of the failure of reconstruction, the south failed to integrate with the rest of the US socially and economically. Yes, you have some cities that finally caught up with the rest of the US eventually, but the rest of the south is an economic regressive region.
If we didn’t have so many closet southern sympathizers during reconstruction, the south would be a much better place today.
