I used to stop at the same gas station about every other day on my way to work. A Sikh man was the owner of the station and put in some long hours there. I got to know him over time, and he was a straight up guy.
I was in there one day and had just stepped up to the register when someone stuck their head in the door and yelled, "Call 911 he's gonna kill her!" Well, ol baw made it out from behind the counter with a bat before I recognized what was going on. I followed him out and sure enough, some guy was in the process of beating the shite out of his girlfriend or wife. Baw didn't check up. He went right toward the action and I will never forget the sound of that bat! It had the ping, but also the crunching sound of bone. He hit the dude three more times. The guy was out cold, dead for all I could tell, and the Sikh fellow turned to me and said, "Hold.", then handed me the bat. He grabbed the piece of shite's leg and dragged the a-hole across the pavement, out of the way of the pumps. He then went in and made sure his wife had called 911.
They should have given him a medal. He cracked the guy's skull, broke his arm, and couple ribs, according to the cop who worked the case.
True story. I liked that dude, he was good people. They sold that station a couple years after that. I wonder how he's doing these days.

Sikh’s, for the most part, are great people. There is a Sikh gas station a couple of miles from my house and I try to make a point to give them most of my business. Nice people, and it doesn’t hurt that they have a Krispy Krunchy Chicken inside.

It was honestly one of the coolest things I've ever seen. The shithead woman beater had knocked her down and was slapping or hitting her. She was trying to roll under the car, I think it was a Mustang, to get away from him. Ol' Sikh baw, I can't remember his name for the life of me, hemmed him up next to the car and just wailed on him with that bat. It was a black woman who yelled in the door. She said she was pumping gas and heard yelling. She looked over and saw him slap her so hard that she just crumpled.
The way that guy dragged him across the parking lot toward the building still cracks me up. Meanwhile, I'm just standing there speechless with a shocked look on my face with a Dr. Pepper in one hand and what could have been a murder weapon in the other.
I was late for work that day.

I was in Ktown Tuesday and a black man in a Hoodie bumped me hard. I told him to watch it and he flipped out. I just started walking away. I was with family and not trying to go to Rikers on vacation.
Two Korean dudes came between us. I went inside the market and he took off on a a bike.
Crazy. But I should have just let it go. I need to avoid people in hoodies in summer.
