I live in a very rural area. I've got neighboring properties with $1mm homes and I've got neighboring property owners that live in old mobile homes. I'd say the smallest/cheapest home around me is a guy we call "the chicken man" (because he sells free range chickens for income) who lives in a shack down by the river.
I get along with all my neighbors, but I find the poorer of the neighbors are often the best, most giving, neighbors. Anytime I want to hang out with a neighbor, I usually go down to the river and hang with chicken man and a couple of his neighbors who would be considered very poor by OT standards. If I ever need emergency help, the few wealthy people with neighboring properties would probably be the last people I would call.
