I always brought some nets down right around the time of the Rodeo. I crabbed off the old bridge using chicken necks and could catch 5 dozen plus very easily. I caught most of the crabs by the shallow end of the bridge by Bridgeside Marina.

its been a really good summer for fishing and crabbing and shrimping
im assuming alot of that has to do with no pressure from august until recently, due to IDA
drop some chicken necks in some drop lines, incoming tide is usually a little better on the beach. you should have zero problem catching as many as you want

Lots of pompoms..

They usually run right at beginning of August. It's still a little early but you can catch a few dozen keepers for sure.

Just be sure to clean up your chicken necks when done and don't just leave them sitting on the beach.

They ran for a few weeks but have dropped off dramatically the past week. It is always hit or miss. You could limit out in an hour in the morning and not see another crab for days.

well I ended up going. Got about 30. They just turned on around noon but not much before that. Still had a lot of fun. My daughter told me that she likes Grand Isle more than Orange Beach. Made me proud

Put the biggest crab you catch on a hook with a steel leader and an egg weight above it toss it out in a deep hole and wait!

There were more crabs caught this weekend than the tarpon.

We had to stop. Had too much.
