This is helpful information. We are first timers and trying to bring the kids to Park City. Having some sticker shock. Can anyone familiar with the area recommend a place for lodging that’s even reasonably affordable? Does not need to have all the bells and whistles. For reference, we are trying to go Ash Wednesday to Sunday and the places we are seeing are running around 2200/night.

If you're first timers and looking to find something affordable I'd probably recommend somewhere else. PC is a very pricey area and while it's great for first timers, you'll enjoy it more when you're able to take in more of the mountain. There are many other great resorts in the SLC area and it's much cheaper to stay in SLC than PC. PC does have a good ski school though and the convenience factor are hard to beat so it's hard to say. PC is great but you're gonna pay for it

How many people?

We have three in our group and just booked a week in Canyons Village through AirBNB for under $2000

You should go to Brighton or Solitude. Stay in SLC. You’re trying to go to one of the most expensive resorts in America during one of the busiest times and wondering why it’s expensive.

There are definitely places in PC way more reasonable. Especially if you don't need ski in/ski out or right inside the village. Where are you getting prices?

If you are shopping direct with Vail Resorts or parkcitymountain.com(a Vail resorts site) prices will be way higher.

Some of the same exact properties/units listed on parkcitymountain.com are also on LINK / or LINK / for substantially less. I rented a 2 bedroom/2 bath on parkcitylodging. I could have gotten the same exact room type direct with Vail resorts and pay triple(no exaggeration). Plus with Vail resorts you don't get to pick your unit.

Also, the park city side tends to be a little cheaper(and older) than the Canyons side. I wouldn't stay in town. Too much of a pain to get to the mountain/ski school. There is the town lift, but you would need to ski down from the top of the lift.

A friend of mine goes every year to PC and always books with VRBO. He told me he usually is in the $500 a night range for Mardi Gras week at PC. This year with everything going on he is looking more like $700 per night.

Just booked 2 condos (4&5BR) at Park City’s Silver Town complex through VRBO for mid-March; research had them running about $180-200/night/BR. Older units, nothing fancy but walkable to PC base, on shuttle route to downtown. Look at Skiers Lodge as well.
