I don't know...I've heard "mechanics" say some pretty stupid things before.

4 -6 across line wrapping around the station. How much gas are they burning sitting idle for like an hour with the A/C on full blast, all to save a few nickels a gallon? Not to mention is their time worth so little to them?

It's closer to $0.30/gallon saved and takes 20-30 minutes at most because of the single entrance and all the pumps working.

The real idiots are those that dont realize the hose at Costco is long enough to reach if your tank is on opposite side. SO I usually use that line.

I’m already at Costco, and the line never takes THAT long. Why should I go somewhere else to fill up?

Costco was 2.38 yesterday
Racetrac was 2.47.

Is saving $1-2 really worth the wait?

How early? I didn’t think they open until 9:00 or so.

My Costco opens the gas lines at 6:00 am. Never a line at that time. Even at normal morning rush hour times there is virtually no wait.

It would be nice if they wouldn't block the damn road waiting to get in the parking lot at the BR location! Happens on a daily basis!

I needed gas yesterday and wasn't far from Costco so thought I would check and see if the line wouldn't be too bad.

Holy. fricking. shite.

I've never seen anything like that. Had to be AT LEAST an hour to get to a pump.

That mechanic is a dumbass. Costco and Qt, for example, are both "Top-Tier Rated" and thus meet the same elevated detergent standards that Shell, BP, etc. do. Sam's, RaceTrac, and Walmart, however, do not. There's a difference, but not between Costco and Shell.

I don't get people that gas hunt unless you drive a huge gas guzzler. The gas station by my house and on my way in from work is by far the most expensive I know of, and generally if I do the math a full tank will only cost me $2-4 there....well worth it for the convenience.

I go to Costco either early in the morning or late at night and there is never a line. I will look at gas buddy app to see what their price is compared to other stations around the city. Typically if it’s more than 20 cents/gallon cheaper, I’ll make the trip to Costco. In the last 6 months it’s been a 40-50 cent difference.

That may start to move the needle for me...but usually for me it's about 20 cents.
