I agree that Bluebonnett cannot support the traffic we have now. So, either the bridge gets passed and it screws it up even more (likely), OR the developers get their way and they get to add 3,500 more homes to that area without improving the infrastructure. Either way, those in that area are completely screwed, it's just a matter of who is doing the screwing.

What seems to be missing from all of these proposals is a large reduction in pass through traffic traveling through Baton Rouge.
None of these options will eliminate the freight trucks traveling cross country on I-10/12.
None of these options will provide a true bypass.
Yes, there will be a way to move people across the river who commute daily, but is that really why we are building a third bridge in the BR metro area?
Where is the linkage to the interstate? We will regret this choice almost like every other decision made regarding interstate paths in our area.

From everything I’ve read and seen there is no consideration to building this bridge and extending the highway eastward past 30.
Why? Why can’t we have them extend it to the interstate?

Building a road that exits I-10 just east of Grosse Tete
Just doing an interstate quality road from Gross Pointe to the 3127 corridor would make huge gains.
NOLA traffic from the west has no need to cross the river before Sunshine, Gramercy, Hale Boggs or Huey P.
1 road gets you 4 bridges. Idiots at DOTD have no clue.

Their website “scores” every crossing. Some are more advantageous than others. There’s a lot of good info on that site.
Just looking at lines on the map doesn’t tell the whole story.

I for one think that should be in the plan, but it’s not.

Can we also add that those 24K are not evenly spread out either.
Absolutely. Would be a massive clusterfrick at specific times

Does anybody know why they built the bridge in St. Francisville? That seems like a completely unnecessary place to put one, and any time I've gone over it there isn't anybody else on it. Don't get me wrong, it's an awesome looking bridge, but man it seems borderline useless right there.

Bluebonnet does which is why it makes the most sense (and it's the only one that's actually straight e-w.
It's the least shitty option imo

Judy Eits said she is bothered that the bridge may be constructed too far south, to get traffic to New Orleans. Eits said lots of traffic on the current bridge near Port Allen, especially 18-wheelers, is trying to get to I-12 on the way east and those drivers want to avoid New Orleans. "I don't know that is our big problem," she said, meaning making it easier for motorists to get to eastbound I-10.
I agree with Judy on the point that some of the more southerly routes wont get traffic off the I-10 bridge.
JMHO, but I always have figured that one of the Plaquemine routes could be done fairly well and tied into I-10 at Grosse Tete. The problem for a new bridge is the East side connection. It will have to connect to something worthy enough to handle the volume coming and going.

Judy is an ignorant slut.
The I-10 bridge bottleneck is caused by people trying to get from LA-1 to the east side of the river. Many of them to Ascension Parish because of the population boom there. Build a bridge around Plaquemine and you take a TON of traffic off the I-10 bridge.

Then I’m guessing you haven’t driven on bluebonnet during a weekday in a decade or so?

U-club people can’t even get out of their neighborhood in the morning without having a cop block traffic to let them out.

Good luck on that environmental assessment, sport.

Same reason why the interstate has the stupid bottleneck and “sharp” turn coming off the Wilkinson bridge into BR anyway.

No bridge across the river is useless. They just built them out of order. They should have prioritized that as a Baton Rouge bridge then built that one later. I’m never going to complain about a lower Mississippi crossing.

A lot of the proposals have bridge traffic going to LA-30, but for that to happen LA-30 would have to be completely redone from LSU to Gonzales and I have no idea how’d they’d propose to fix the mess around I-10 in Gonzales.
this guy fricks
