Today is the day.

Know nothing of this movie but the trailers on TV but why does this remind me of Conan the Barbarian? Kid's village is raided and watches parents die. Captured and enslaved. Grows up to become a warrior that gets revenge and earns a kingdom.

Am I off based with that?

Still, in.

Saw it last night. I thoroughly enjoyed it. They showed a lot more Viking lore and religion/mythology than I was expecting. Really enjoyed that part. I only watched the very first teaser trailer for it, so I went in knowing as little about what was coming as possible. Some of the imagery in the movie was fantastic. Overall really good movie.

The studio had significant interference on the final cut, which sucks arse for an Eggers movie.

Read that he was kind of pissed and probably won't do a big-budget again.

Hope it's still good.

How the hell can you not give Eggers the final cut?

Just setting up so they can also sell a Director's Cut and make more money.

You liked it? I went and watched it last night without knowing anything about it. I expected something like the Vikings series and was really let down.
The plot seemed very slow and confusing at times. The pagan scenes were pretty cringeworthy as well. I started laughing out loud during the scene where the Valkyrie is carrying him to Valhalla across her saddle.
My two buddies were with me and we all agreed it was an absolutely awful movie. I went online to see what the critics thought of it and it was 100% positive, saying this is one of the best movies in recent years. Am I crazy? The movie sucked and was way too long imo.

It was never going to be very much like this, not with Eggers doing it.

Or, maybe it just wasn't your thing?

I can't wait for the confused reactions to this movie

i'm having my first long work trip alone since covid hit where i have 3 nights on the road alone to myself. i usually save violent and/or indy films specifically for those kind of trips and really haven't had them in a while.

between this, massive talent, everything, everywhere, all at once, i may be able to knock out three.

I saw it this afternoon. I wouldn't say it suck but it was somewhat confusing and a few scenes were unintentionally humorous.

Was the Valkyrie wearing braces?

Just finished it. Great movie. Fantastic writing, excellent cinematography and the acting was phenomenal. The fight scenes had me on the edge of my seat. Very visceral movie. Highly recommend seeing this one in the theater.

I’m sure the reviews on this board will be polar. Seems like a movie you love or hate.

I will avenge you father
I will save you mother
I will kill you Fjolnir

There’s a lot I liked. It could have been better and was missing several factors. But I enjoyed watching it

As I just said, I didn’t hate it. I didn’t think the action was that great and there was some bad acting (some amazing acting too to be fair)and there’s just some strange attempts to do stuff that don’t really work

My favorite thing was the berserkers absolutely crashing after the battle. That felt like the relaxed t thing. Them shivering from their complete chemical imbalance as the chaos continued around them

I also loved some of the Shakespearean acting (for obvious reasons). Claes Bang was phenomenal and so was Ethan Hawke for that

That's how I felt. There's a lot of great stuff, but the movie drags a bit towards the end. It's a 2 hour movie but it felt far longer. Also, a lot of the dialogue was tough to understand.

I usually agree with your opinion so I’m kinda disappointed because I had a lot of hope for this one. I loved The Witch. But as always, I will go in with an open mind. Maybe now I can temper my expectations a little.
