Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey on Friday signed legislation to outlaw puberty blocking medications for minors.
The bill makes it a felony, punishable by up to 10 years in prison, to prescribe puberty blockers or hormones to transgender people under age 19 to help in their gender transition.

It’s amazing that this had to be banned, that this wasn’t something that automatically was considered harmful to people.

The SEC states are going to have to save this country

Wonder why they chose 19, wouldn't the individual be able to take over medical decisions at 18?
F those doctors. The reason it's included is because "generally" not done on minors lets everyone know that it is done on minors; which is why they need the new law

The bill also prohibits gender transition surgeries, although doctors told lawmakers those are generally not done on minors.

Our progeny will look back at gender transition the same way we look at lobotomies.

Chemical castration. We should definitely treat children like we treat hardened sex offenders.

AL is weird when it comes to this. Back before you had to be 21 to buy tobacco under federal law, most states were 18. AL was 19.
Maybe it has something to do with that. Maybe not.

age of majority is 19 in Alabama and Nebraska, 21 in Mississippi and Puerto Rico. 18 everywhere else.

Interesting. Thanks. Didn't know that.

19 is the age you are considered a legal adult in Alabama. Custody arrangements in Alabama go to age 19.

It's only a ban for people under 19.
So most of the Bama fans on this board need not worry about their upcoming procedures.

I wonder how they would enforce this since there are other medical uses for puberty blockers. Just prescribing them wouldn't be evidence of using them for gender transition.
