Not sure I understand the mindset of some of these entering the portal. You have a new previously successful coach bringing his starting PG with him and possibly a couple of others. You didn't play at all and now have a chance to start or get max playing time at a P5 school. Unless someone is going to throw money at you or you are assured of starting wherever you transfer, why leave? You can always transfer after next year and will have had a year to show what you can do. I mean a 3* out of high school who hardly played last year has a better shot somewhere else?

Not sure some of these kids have a real choice.

It's not that difficult to understand. The coaching staff that recruited them to LSU is no longer here. Few, if any, have any type of relationship with McMahon. Thus, they are entering the portal to allow themselves to be re-recruited again...including by Matt McMahon to LSU.
Perhaps in that recruiting process they ultimately decide LSU is where they want to be. But I certainly can understand why they would want to explore all options. There is nothing unreasonable about that at all. No one ever bemoans a pro player for exercising his right to free agency to test the market for his services. That is basically what these kids are doing here.

While I'm not saying anyone definitely will come back, entering the transfer portal doesnt automatically mean you're gone, just means other schools can recruit you.
Not a bad idea for players under Wade to see who might else want them. I'm sure a lot of these guys were loyal to Wade and also dont know what's going to happen to the program itself from a sanctions standpoint. Might as well see what else is out there.

Honestly feel that if a coach can get thru to Eric Gaines and make him see his real potential his ceiling is borderline Ja Morant.

Some may have no choice but to transfer because they received money from Wade or the other fired coach,

Let them all go. This group couldn't win a SEC title much less a trip to the Final Four if their lives depended upon it.... .collection of misfires that couldn't hit a bull in his caboose with a 2 x 4
