This article from The Athletic claims that LSU wasn't looking for a qb, but that Daniels was just someone they couldn't pass up.

Nice read. Such a smart move by Kelly to bring in a QB with 29 starts to his name.

Kind of a low-risk, moderate reward IMO.

Best that could happen? 4 QB's compete, the best starts, and you have depth.

Worst thing that could happen? 2 QB's transfer out.

I think the best outcome is more likely.

Yes. And that's a big risk. If Daniels (who has 2 years left) lights it up in spring, Brennan and Nuss could very well transfer. Then you have a true freshman as the only backup.

is coming here to be the starter, according to Arizona media. With 2 years of eligibility left for Daniel’s, I think Brennan and Nuss hit the transfer portal.

I’m certain he is, but he’s got to first win the job.

Heard it today on an interview on Scone's radio show. Woman who follows ASU stated it emphatically.

I don’t think any quarterback transfers out this year. I think Nas Meyer and Walker know that Myles Brennan is the starter and perhaps Daniels will be the back up. That gives nothing Howard both time to improve and compete against one another in 2023

Idk, i think if JD wins and Brennan transfers out, Nuss may stay since he would be only one injury away from starting, plus idk how many top schools would be offering him a starting position where he could light it up. It would be smartest for him to stay here, refine his game, and if he loses the battle next year THEN transfer out. Hes bound to get some reps this year (assuming brennan leaves)

Nuss would only transfer if he thinks he can start somewhere else quicker than at LSU. What school would take on nuss and promise him the starting position?

And Brennan could get hurt again as he has the last two years and Nuss is probably transferring anyway. So there’s that.

By the way, how do all you Brennan lovers know how he is recovering from 2 season ending injuries? Brian Kelly knows. Maybe he isn’t as comfortable with Brennans progress as some of you are.

I don't think this has anything to do with brennan's injuries.

Daniels hit the portal and had interest in lsu. It wasn't like lsu was desperately looking for another qb. If that was the case they would've went after one sooner.

Agree. And Daniels considered the NFL draft instead of the portal. I think he is coming here to start and hit the NFL. He would have started for four years in college at that point. If this happens, you have Nuss, and Howard battling it out in 2023. Considering this is probably it for Brennan, I think Brennan transferring is more likely than Nuss. Brennan needs to start somewhere in 2022. May be here. But if Daniels looks like he did in his freshman year, I don’t think Myles sticks around if there is a clear path to start somewhere else.

Nuss won't be here next year regardless. Brennan is getting the start unless this guy is lights out compared to him. He's a temporary depth decision with 2 QBs with injury concerns on the roster right now. You then have a QB ready to potentially start next year in Daniels unless Howard shows big growth. Nuss is odd man out. Going to have to get someone to replace him in this recruiting class.
