Everything you need to know about Jayden Daniels (transfer QB)

Jayden Daniels is born and raised in California.
6”3 185-190 pounds with pure athleticism.
32 TDS/ 13 ints for his 3 years as starter. People say he regressed a little, but ASU lost a lot of big time players like top weapon Brandon Aiyuk.
He can run with the best of them, has had multiple TD runs over 40 yards.
Good arm, and good pocket awareness. Will throw on the run a lot.
Weakness that I see is inconsistency throwing the ball. ASU offense is not built to throw it 35+ times a game. So he as QB is not built for that. He struggled in games where they got behind early.
Overall very solid though IMO.
College comparison: Desmond Ridder
NFL comparison: Tyler Huntley

Yeah im excited to see him play with our talent. He's definitely a solid grab.
Not to mention, ASU only played 4 games in 2020 during the covid season too.

Tyler Hundley isn’t a great comp he has far far far better arm talent. With the Wr depth at lsu I expect him to be a first round pick if he stays 2 years. Fast and elite arm talent. Comp- Lamar Jackson

I just dont get why people are so anti-Daniels here. If he doesnt pan out, so what? He's depth. If all he did was add variety in the playbook with a wildcat look then great. I seem him almost like Emory Jones for Florida, just better.

He better be in the mold of Manziel or he will get destroyed at 185 in the SEC

LSU doesn't need another DT "Glorified RB" that can't hit the broad side of a barn throwing a football when the lights come on.
All the great LSU WR's need a QB that can accurately and consistently get the ball in their hands!
Kelly and Denbrock playing with fire here.

I watched him a lot his freshman year and he looked super impressive. I haven’t kept up with what has happened to them since then other than they went down hill as a program since then. He is athletic af and can throw it. Having a guy that can run like him is dangerous as hell if the passing game can get going at all.

Was he going to be the ASU starter this season? Anybody know why he left ASU?

Anyone who bitches about grabbing another QB is a moron.
Yes, let’s just give Brennan the starting job without competition since he’s been here for so long.

Appears to be a “7 wins” kind of QB. He’ll looked great against weaker defenses and bad against good defenses.

That is not good for a 3 yr starter.

We were worried about Brennan getting broke in half and he was bigger than this as a soph.
I am not worried one way or the other now. I will just wait to see it on the field for whoever gets the nod.

I don't see getting behind early as JD's weakness rather the Offensive Coordinator not having the framework/ability to come from behind.

But can he complete the no look backwards pass??

Could have used a running QB with some talent the last 2 years the way our OLine has played in that timeframe.
