Still hearing about former Louisiana kids displaced by Katrina in CFB - plus relates now

Was watch a video on Tyler Badie, Missouri RB, and it talked about his early years up til whatever point in time the video was posted in the 2021 season. Kid was from New Orleans left because of Katrina, came back and saw everything gone and mom found work in Baltimore and then Memphis.
Kid was only a 3 star Tennessee kid and played 2nd string and backup at Mizzu for 3 years. This last year finally as the starter, he breaks the single season Mizzu rushing record set back in 1988, and posts over 1900 scrimmage yards and 18 TDs this year.
CeeDee Lamb was also a Katrina victim.
It made me think about what they were saying at the coaches meeting about having better talent evaluation for Louisiana kids too. Mike Scarborough was talking about a statistic he heard there where a hundred Louisiana recruits LSU DIDNT give offers to over the past 10 years went on to play in the NFL. Of course that number could be off, but not THAT much off. Stanley Morgan Jr is one that comes to mind. LSU had 4 WRs in the 2015 class and didn't offer SMJ. He went to Nebraska and became their all time leading receiver and was 14 yards away from having back to back 1000 yard seasons with mediocre QB play.
It just goes to show how much talent is really in this state, and how much of it is overlooked by national guys and even our own coaches.

It's not hard to believe at all that 10 Louisiana players per year that LSU didn't offer make the NFL.
1. "Play" in the NFL is a pretty broad description. Did they make a roster, practice squad, etc.
2. Louisiana Tech, ULL, ULM, Southern, Grambling, Etc., routinely have a couple players drafted, many from Louisiana that LSU did not offer.
That stat is actually not surprising.

Babies then are 16-18 now. So all on the parents to want to send them back “home.”

This mostly supports your point but also a bit of “in fairness” to LSU.
They signed a 5* (massive bust) and a 4* who is in the NFL followed by another 4* in Jazz Ferguson. All three were in state guys. And a 4th ranked higher than SMJ.
So, to your point, plenty of misevaluation considering how good SMJ turned out to be. But at least with the top two WR, LSU theoretically had a couple of potential great ones followed by another in-state guy in Jazz. I don’t even remember who the 4th guy is, Brandon Martin.
Hindsight, would have been great to sign SMJ. But also having 3 highly ranked in-state guys onboard…only so many spots, right.

Many 3 star LA players are better than many 4 stars nationwide.
