If you looking for a place to catch, clean and have a fish fry... i would not fish in the Mississippi River.

The Mississippi is one of the "cleanest" water bodies in the state. Go to the DHH fish consumption advisories - it's not listed anywhere - but many other places are.

The river is cleaner now than at any time in the last 100 years

I've been catching and eating catfish out of that river since I was a kid------and it's been a long time since I was a kid. The first time I can remember being on the river fishing was with my dad in the late 50's.

If I had to take a guess, I'd say I've probably eaten a few hundred pounds of catfish filets from the Mississippi River, all caught from Luling to past English Turn.
