Rubbed him the wrong way when he wanted to continue to take visits. Try to strong arm him

I'm sorry, say that again?

“I used to come home and Harold was the one that ran the house,” Walton said(his Mother). Only in the last few years has she not worked evenings and can now attend her son's games. “He made sure everything was done. He cooked, he washed my clothes and ran my bath water, bring me my food and make sure I’m good for work the next day."

Any child who does this for their mom has my complete support wherever he goes to school and whatever he does in life. I will be a fan of his, and wish him success wherever he goes. This is incredibly admirable.

No kidding. I was definitely one of those posters who the all star interviews rubbed the wrong way. But this is highly respectable.

I’ve said the same. Reading this makes me wonder if the kid is trying to get paid so he can spend some to take care of his Mom. Based on her words, it seems like he would.

It’s easy to judge what recruits say, but we don’t have all the details or context. Maybe Perkins isn’t all prima donna.

TLDR: I don’t know what the big deal is. Seems like a good dude to me. Pay this man (the best LB in the country) and let’s go win a Ship!

…I just don’t see the big deal. He mentioned NIL and made some references about money. So what? And I don’t mean that disrespectfully. Legitimately don’t know what’s the issue. NIL is real. He’s the best LB in the country and wants to take advantage of an opportunity in front of him to get paid. He wants to be sure the school he chooses can get him the dollars he’s looking for.

Sounds like people bashing him in the first place (not the majority of fans) put a little too much on that interview. I definitely did not hear him begging to get more love from LSU. And I didn’t hear a bad interview. A quick talking kid just getting through it.

If he can get it, great. If he can’t, hopefully he reconsiders his expectations as we all must when it comes to getting paid for the value we bring.

If LSU/ Gordon McKernan can make the money work (and they should do everything possible) let’s get this thing done!

His mom let us know some strong qualities the young man has in his affection for his family and ability to take care of his household as a teenager on top of getting his grades and kicking azz on the football field. Sounds like a good dude to me.

Oh, and we need some good young LBs. The best one in the country…yeah, that’ll work.

Your quote choice is interesting.

This is what stood out to me...

quote:

“When people say new coaching staff, you be like ‘oh lord’ wondering if they have their stuff together and how their personality is going to be,” Walton explained. “Will the environment be a homey environment. Stuff like that. It was nice. It was amazing to say that they just got their new coaching staff, it was amazing. It was a very homey environment. Harold didn’t have to ask too many questions because they were hitting everything on the nose. They really answered the questions before he could ask the question.”

Perkins and his mother have been to LSU several times in the past.

“To have people come aboard and to be organized at a high level it was mind-blowing," Walton said. "It was more organized and everyone is on task and one one accord. The atmosphere was different from any other time we went. It was a more calm and peaceful environment. You really didn’t have to ask too much. And the head coach (she started laughing) he came down and really interacted with the kids. The coach at Florida did the same thing. That stood out to me. Interacted with the kids during their photo shoot. They danced and I”m like wow.”
