“I used to come home and Harold was the one that ran the house,” Walton said(his Mother). Only in the last few years has she not worked evenings and can now attend her son's games. “He made sure everything was done. He cooked, he washed my clothes and ran my bath water, bring me my food and make sure I’m good for work the next day."

It's gonna be close, but I feel good... Just have to wait this out...

I feel like we are in the best spot. Doesn’t mean much until pen hits paper. House getting in, and hopefully getting to contact him a bit could be huge.

These 2 points stood out to me.

"To have people come aboard and to be organized at a high level it was mind-blowing," Walton said. "It was more organized and everyone is on task and one one accord. The atmosphere was different from any other time we went. It was a more calm and peaceful environment. You really didn’t have to ask too much. And the head coach (she started laughing) he came down and really interacted with the kids".

"When people say new coaching staff, you be like ‘oh lord’ wondering if they have their stuff together and how their personality is going to be,” Walton explained. “Will the environment be a homey environment. Stuff like that. It was nice. It was amazing to say that they just got their new coaching staff, it was amazing. It was a very homey environment. Harold didn’t have to ask too many questions because they were hitting everything on the nose. They really answered the questions before he could ask the question.”

Oh no, a lot of posters that didn't like his poly bowl interview are REALLY going to hate this:

Crazy that this board bashed him off of a few interviews.

I watched the videos and pretty much thought he was begging for LSU to come get him.

Show me I'm wrong? Go back and watch the interview from the Allstar game and tell me he really wanted LSU because he wants to play in Baton Rouge and it's not about the money. As soon as that interview was posted, 95% of the people on this board said the same thing. Only now because they believe LSU has a shot does their opinion of that interview change.

That interview pretty much showed the qualities his mother describes. He's mature behind his years and completely comfortable with himself and his ability to make a decision. So are the adults around him. It just comes off as arrogance because we don't see that from 17-18 yr old that often

No kidding. I was definitely one of those posters who the all star interviews rubbed the wrong way. But this is highly respectable.

how so? It's a simple question...am I wrong when I say that the vast majority of posters on this site said that he was a headcase, he would be a cancer in the locker room and all he was doing was looking for the highest bidder? Is that not what everyone was saying then? Now people are telling me to shut up and I have an "issue" because I didn't flip flop like the rest of you did? Yes, what his mom says is HIGHLY commendable and coming from a single mother household myself, I have nothing but respect for that. But that still doesn't change my opinion on what's truly important for him moving forward. I could be completely wrong, but I am just basing my opinion (which I'm allowed to have right?) off of the interviews he has had with the words coming out of his mouth.

As soon as he signs elsewhere, this board will be FILLED with people who said they didn't want him and he will be nothing but trouble for whatever team he signs with. Bookmark this.

All I see is some anonymous poster only known as Crusty looking to bash an 18 year old kid.

Well, I won't say that, and I try to only speak positive of
people. I respect your opinion, but this NIL deal is making a majority of top recruits look into the $ side. I don't like NIL, period, and never have. It's a real temptation for kids to go after. I blame the people who ok'd NIL. I am comfortable in my life, and so I'm certainly not going diss someone for wanting a dollar.

and I WILL NOT bash him if he goes somewhere else and I'll miss not signing him.

This is why it's important to have coaches on staff that come from different socioeconomic backgrounds that can communicate and relate to these kids. Harold's probably never had a childhood, watched his mom work endlessly while he had to embrace responsibilities no-one should have to at that age. Not knowing his background LSU fans piled on him for wanted to make sure he was financially secured while playing ball at the next level for himself and I'm sure his mom. That's why I hope HBCU's keep their momentum going because some fans don't deserve these kids.
