Kinda sounds like you're tell people to what they should or shouldn't take... or rather what they should or shouldn't do
Do whatever you want, but you are wasting your money and in the case of pre-workout, nesting the biggest benefit to your body you can do, which is sleep.
To get caffeine to do 4x5 of bench press. I'm not trying to be a dick, a lot of people just don't know. They see shiny Instagram ads how this pre gets you shredded and take 300mg of caffeine at 5:30pm

I agree, mostly. People don't need a preworkout every time they go into the gym. Ideally they would save them for a harder workout.
Now with that said, I enjoy taking them. I like to see how the different combinations of ingredients affect how I feel and perform. I like to listen to why the person who formulated the preworkout/supplement, put the things in that they did.
I'm actually surprised that so many people that are into fitness, don't really know what they are taking and what each ingredient is supposed to be doing. For anyone interested here is a good podcast to get you started Supplement engineer

I've done pre-workout plenty over the years, but more off and on. For me, it helps at times just to give a kick to get going. Why... because I'm usually up at 0400-0415 and at the gym by 0500. Then on the road to work, 1hr 45min drive, and not leaving work till 5pm.
But i get what you're saying... but my point was, if you want to talk about your subject then offer advise and options. Don't come across as telling people why to take or don't take. Peace!
