The season is over. The players are under no obligation to play in one of the who-gives-a-shite-bowls that litters the landscape.

I do not have a problem with kids opting out of these crappy bowl games. I do have a problem with them opting out when it comes to playoff games.

Opting out is quitting and that’s ok, it’s their choice.

Right. A choice that can either be applauded or criticized. And that’s okay too.

It would be nice to see them at least have to cut a check back to LSU for 1/13th (or 1 game worth) of the value of their tuition, room, meals, and stipends for the year.

At least there would be some consequence to quitting on your team/school.

It’s not going to affect his draft status a single bit. He’ll still go exactly where he would have if he sat out the Sugar Bowl.

Thanks for your ONE EXAMPLE. Your ONE EXAMPLE just clears it all up because this ONE EXAMPLE is exactly how it always is in these cases.

Sure glad that the millions of blue collar workers in our society haven't op-ed out.

I take it you haven't been paying attention to the amount of people nationwide who have walked out on jobs, the strikes & labor shortages currently.

All these random meaningless bowls were formed to make money, but we get mad at the players, whom opt out to not risk losing their future money.

A bowl game like tonight is the perfect opportunity to improve draft stock

One game isn't going to drastically increase or decrease a player's draft stock. That's not how NFL scouting works.

You had way too much to say for wanting to be entertained at the possible expense of someone’s career. Just sit on the couch and watch the game with whoever is playing.

Lets say you are a #10 pick. You get 2 picks in the bowl game and go #5. You earn 12 million.

I'm with the OP. Why not practice your craft? These guys can get hurt in practice too. Or get hurt in an NFL game and lose out on game bonuses.

I think players either are getting bad advice or are not committed to their trade.

Had an old guy tell me one time, " hey, I never pass up work".

Maybe NIL money can stipulate attending and playing in ALL games if not injured.

Im soapboxing I know, but it seems to be a mindset issue. Mindset and mental fortitude means SO much in this soort too.

At this point in College Football I am of the mindset we should get rid of the Bowl games.
the bowls are private. You and I could start a bowl game, if we could find the financing and convince TV to broadcast it.

I don’t agree with players opting out as you committed to play for a college who in turn gives you a scholarship, but then again I’m fine with them making their own decision based on what’s best for them.

I’m guessing it’s only a matter of time before high school seniors start opting out as well now that we are in the era of NIL
