Any idea why Notre Dame, also getting a new head coach did not take the hit we did?

Because they kept the entire staff but him.

Didn’t know the recruiting cycle was over. Thanks for the news.

All the recruiters stayed. Kelly normally delegates, especially when he was at a school that recruits nationwide.

I take it to mean he likes to hire guys who appeal to recruits.

Because Marcus Freeman, whom Kelly convinced to go to Notre Dame over LSU last year.

Because Brian Kelly didn't instill into the ND players what apparently Ed did to some of ours.

Let's be honest, our locker room since 2019 has been toxic. In that environment, of course they're going to jump ship.

Says he hired a great DC and now head coach that is a good recruiter in Marcus Freeman.

Did Ed O get fired mid/season from ND?

Also we fired our coach and had a 6-6 season while theirs was hired because he did a great job. There’s a huge difference in the 2. Then, in an effort to stabilize things they promoted from within.

For what its worth I listed to an interview with Marcus Freeman their head coach and he said his number 1 priority was trying to keep their class together. So even in his mind there was a chance it could fall apart. Most of those guys were committed before Kelly left where as we got what we already had committed.

Marcus Freeman is the reason the class is good not Kelly. Kelly didn’t get classes that good until Freeman came.

Because Freeman helped recruit most of those players and their entire staff stayed. Familiarity was still there. Orgeron had the 7th ranked class the year he took over for Les. This head coaching change was very different than the previous LSU one or the Notre dame one.

When an entire staff changes it’s almost 100% that the class will not be great.

ND is a national brand that for the most part, kept its staff intact. Brian Kelly walked into a program that was 11-11 over the last two seasons that was in need of a complete overhaul from bottom up.

Why did we hold onto most of our 2017 class after O took over? Same reason. What did that say about O? Not that much beyond the fact that he and the holdovers had the relationships and were able to hold on.

This is really poor attempt to troll. Do better, frickface.

Maybe Kelly had already locked in a good class before he left. He hasn't been gone very long.

Is this a real question? Do you really see no difference in the situation? Come on Man...

Kids choose Notre Dame for the school not the coach.

I wish I could downvote you twice.

-Didn’t lose their coach mid season
-Had a coach in waiting that the players love
-Kelly recruits to a program; not a coach.
-You suck
