Cool, now compare that block of seasons to other teams picking #1 overall over the same equivalent span, and then promptly shut the frick up.

Sam Darnold really wasn’t that good in college.

This. Rosen, Manziel, Tebow, Ponder, Manuel were really obvious future busts as well.

Johnny Manziel

I see a lot of people mentioning him already but I guess I'll pile on. I knew he was a bust the day he was drafted. His career looked exactly like I thought it would.

Ones i got right:
Ponder
Gabbert
Haskins
Daniel Jones (not officially a bust yet, but looking like it)
Lynch

Ones I got wrong:
Mariota (I think he was a few years ahead of his time with RPOs now being a big thing)
Herbert (Thought he would be a 2 year flame out)
Josh Freeman

Sam Darnold- dude was very sloppy in college, and the hype never made sense.

Johnny Manziel- there have been dozens just like him in college, who got away with the circus act, only to be exposed in the NFL. He was an obvious one.

Marcus Mariota- Had all the ear markings of a college system QB who lacked any elite skill for the position. But at least he can run, like ol' Johnny Football.

Every Ohio State QB.

Every Alabama QB. (Mac Jones MAY finally be a competent NFL QB from there, but there's still plenty of time for regression. We'll see with him.)

Every Florida QB.

Akili Smith

Akili in Swahili means “absolute”

So he was absolutely going to bust.

The Trubisky pick still blows my mind.

Everyone but the Bears knew that was outrageous.

Trubisky is a prime example of the penchant NFL media and scouts have for overthinking the draft and talking themselves into a pick based on measurables and intangibles.

He was a one year starter who put up decent numbers for a mediocre UNC team. But right on cue, the NFL talking heads started talking up his arm strength, athleticism, and combine measurables, and he shot up draft boards.

Happens every. single. year. And almost always with QBs.

Just go look at the Browns list and you will laugh...

Tim Couch
Brady Quinn
Brandon Weeden
Johnny Manziel

...and yet the vocal minority of Browns fans want to get rid of Baker Mayfield to return to the insanity. Truly mind blowing

Sam Darnold

Great thread idea, OP.

That’s your justification?

Awful. Try harder.

Not sure why everyone keeps saying this.

There have only ever been 3 (4 if you count Ohio State graduate Joe Burrow) and one of those most of you guys have never ever heard of

Haskins thus far is a bust and doubtful he is a full time starter ever again, and Fields is a rookie.
