Do you understand how this all works? The court requires payment in full or a property lien.
Bail bondsmen require 10-12% of the bail amount and you don’t get that back. You pay them the 10-12%, and they post the full amount which is returned to them when you appear in court.
What the frick do you think bounty hunters do?

Depends on what they say. If it concurs with what looked like happened on the vid, then he's toast.

Not sure it's a open and shut as you think. A good defense attorney can make some hay here.
First, we have no clue what triggered the guy. Looks like they were dropping a package at the UPS store. And being an a-hole (which he was) is not a felony. Second, he was walking to the car when the old guy called him out. The "I can do violence" line is problematic, but also should put old guy on notice. Old guy keeps at it. Suarez fakes a punch. Ok, that's simple assault. Probably plead to a misdemeanor. Then old guy starts in on the "your not a man" and "do it" line. Suarez walks away. Old guy follows, and starts cursing. What happens, what is said behind the car (where we assume his wife is), we don't know. We don't know if Old Guy had a concealed carry. Not implausible to assume Old Guy from Mandeville is packing. But we can't tell from the video. So a good defense attorney has to cross of bunch of northshore moms who were getting their nails done at the Viet nail salon and drinking white wine at Cafe Rani at 1:30 on a Monday. Again, not an insurmountable task
I'll leave the military justice to your JAG boys, but as a pure criminal matter, it's not a done deal by any means.

Not necessarily. He was a pilot and probably flew full time. He's most likely losing a career.

Once again, you don't have to use a bondsman. You bond out and you get whatever money you put up back when you appear. The original comment acted as if the city/state keeps 10% when that's not accurate.

I'm saying you can create some reasonable doubt and probably convince some ADA to let this go on a misdemeanor and probation.

Not true. If it is an OTH or something g like it, they can still receive the benefits. In this guys case, he can get discharged but since he is National Guard, he can get benefits based on any prior active duty period. So if he deployed, that is a separate period of service that qualifies for benefits.
