twk,

I'm starting to think that Sherman may resign. He has not said one good word about the SEC move, and his teams have been inexplicably unmotivated.

Maybe he goes for an NFL OC job?

That's not out of the question. He certainly hasn't done a very good job of working up some enthusiasm for the SEC move. Sherman doesn't seem like the kind of guy to stick around when he's not wanted.

Leach,$1.5 mil contract (if he fires his agent), $750k to coordinators, contenders in 4 years.

Would be more than happy with that.....but unless A&M's brass prove me wrong (like they did about taking us to the SEC), then it won't happen.

I'd only want it to happen if we got a surefire DC to go with him. Remember what Bamas D did to Leach and his best TT team in their history in 08 in the Cotton Bowl? High risk high reward to get Leach, and hope that he can win in the SEC.

It'll never happen, but if Sherman REALLY wants what's best for A&M, that'd be what he'd do. No offense to him, he's got impeccable character and is a great guy to talk to (for those of you who haven't had the pleasure of meeting him), but he is also not anywhere near what A&M needs on gamedays in the SEC.

Before the season, Aggies were so proud of Sherman and the program he was building. 9 weeks later, they are saying he isn't cutting it. I find that pretty funny.

I'd fully support throwing 4-5M at Meyer.....maybe he'd laugh, or maybe he'd like to come to the lone SEC school in Texas that is 90 miles from Houston talent and a few hours from DFW/East Texas. Only Meyer knows what the next challenge is that he wants. Maybe that means Ohio State or PSU, maybe it doesn't.

Texasaggie08,

I hope for our sake that does not happen. From what I am hearing around Columbus, Ohio State is going to shell out some wedge to get Urban here - he is tOSU's number 1 target.

SohCahToa, some were happy with him. I have not been happy with the hire ever since he got the job. Many Aggies change their tune quicker than a teenager on her period, which is hard to deal with honestly. Some of us Aggies can live our lives without all the delusion though haha. Sherman was a dumb hire and we will see how serious our University is about being relevant in College Football based on when they fire Mike Sherman and who they hire in his place.

I'd be shocked if he was NOT your #1 target. I also bet PSU wants him.

At the end of the day, if he wants the "bigger" name program, and wants to coach back in Ohio, he will go to OSU.

If he wants to be in the SEC, and sees A&M as a school with everything to succeed except for a great coach, then advantage us.

That said, A&M approaching Meyer and paying him whatever it takes may be a longshot, regardless of what his answer would be.

And Sherman stabalized the program. Its in relatively good shape for the next guy, unlike when Fran left.

I think Sherman's ceiling was last season though, especially since we are going to a much stronger conference.

Texasaggie08, I agree Sherm has the program in better shape then Fran did. However, if we hold onto him for more than another year the talent level with significantly drop and we will again approach Fran years. The talent level is average or a little above now, but if we hold onto Sherm for too long we will be right back where we were a few years ago...

Don't get me wrong, I fully support making the move, and making it now....I'm just saying I will not loathe him the way that I loathe Fran, who drove our program into the ground.

By all accounts, Sherman has not recruited many guys who are complete head scratchers. Remember the O-Line and most of the defense we had under Fran? Many of those guys, in hindsight, should not have been on a BCS conference school's roster, unless you are Kansas or Baylor.

sherman is a good coach he has brought a&m to respectful in a few years and for some reason they have a second half but where they cant hang on to a lead but if you think that a single coach can come in there and make things better in one year you are wrong
