You are probably too young to remember the 80's... or the 90's.

Texas A&M finished 3rd in overall athletic standings in 2010 in Men's athletics, tied with Auburn, and 2 spots behind Florida. South Carolina was the only other SEC program in the Men's top ten standings.

Texas A&M finished 2nd in overall athletic standings in 2010 in women's standings. Florida finished 3rd. No other SEC school made the top ten.

But of course you care about football so let's talk about that.

Texas A&M is currently 9-1 in it's last 10 Big 12 games. The only loss coming to the 3rd ranked team in the country by one point.

But of course, conference realignment isn't about how many BCS victories a team has in the past 5 years, or conference championships (which A&M tied for the Big 12 South win last year btw, but lost in the rankings tie breaker. OU and Nebraska went to the Big 12 Championship last season, both teams had lost to A&M during the season) than you are talking about a very short list.

Heck, Texas is 1-7 in it's last 8 Big 12 games. Would you turn down Texas? They did win a MNC in 2005, but of course it's 2011, so you're asking for "what have you done for me lately."

I think your whole thing is you just didn't want the SEC to expand, and if that's your position than there will be no counter argument that will make you feel better about it. I know a lot Ags and Tiger fans are excited about renewing the A&M/LSU rivalry, so we'll see how that goes.

A&M is excited about coming, it'll compete immediately for SEC Championships in various sports, and as far as winning the SEC West, we'll see how many years it'll take A&M to do that. It only took Arkansas 3.

Too bad. You're stuck with us.

For how long? The SEC will be your 3rd conference in less than 20 years.

oh come the frick, of course I'm strictly aiming at football. You only brought an argument for all sports, not football to where you have none.

Texas AM right now is at least better than vandy, uk, ole miss, msu, and tennessee. Putting them in the middle of the pack. Their potential is to make the Big 6 of the SEC become the Big 7. They are in the biggest football recruiting grounds in the country and are a huge state university with tradition and in the top 25 in all-time wins.

Given the right coach ( a la Saban for LSU), they can become elite. Remember LSU pretty sucked for like 11 years '89-'99? I remember going to LSU games in the early 90s with only 60,000 in the stands. And really outside a few good years from the mid-70s through '88, LSU was more like S. Carolina.
