There is an obvious imbalance between the SEC football east and west that should be addressed

This is somewhat short-sighted. There was an imbalance about 10 years ago too, and the West was the East's bitch. It's cyclical. You can't go changing the conference every 5 years or so just to keep it "balanced." As long as LSU, Bama, Auburn, Georgia, Tennessee, and Florida are divided up evenly, the rest doesn't really matter. Except for geographically, of course.

This is a sad day for the SEC to accept this creepy/strange school and fan base. If anyone thought Arkansas was a poor fit for this conference, this is much worse. Have you ever taken a look at their "traditions"? They look like fricking neo nazis. Just strange, strange people. Aggie jokes exist for a reason and now we have to hear that crap from them every year. Texas fans seem happy to get rid of them, now we have the scourge.

Baylor is just playing Texas A&M for a payoff. A&M will pony up a ransom, pay the Bears and say adios. I say never pay terrorists, where will it stop. Saw that on a cop show one time lol

A&M has money troubles. They had to borrow money for their athletic department a few years back. They had to borrow 16 million from the school for the athletics department. Article says that the athletic department had been operating in a deficit for several years. LINK LSU gives about 6 million a year to the school, A&M has to borrow.

A school source indicated that if Oklahoma and Oklahoma State would renew its commitment to the league rather than pursue Pac-12 membership, that Baylor might be willing to release its claims against A&M with a stable Big 12.

Like I said, Baylor wants a spot in a BCS conference and will settle for nothing less. How does A&M solve this?

A&M can solve this by staying in your league!! I can see how Texas fans are happy to get rid of them but they don't belong in the SEC.

I agree. The Big XII will be completely stable once we agree to stay.

SEC to accept this creepy/strange school and fan base

I welcome Tex A&M. Its a solid rivalry for LSU and one that will be enjoyed for many many years. I think we have a solid group in the West. We all hate each other with a passion, and adding A&M only increases it.

Arkansas is a stranger bird than A&M by leaps and bounds. A&Ms fans are passionate, field good teams, and have high academic standards. That pretty much moves them ahead of Arkansas and the Miss schools in the pecking order almost immediately.

A&M Athletic Department HAD money troubles.

2009-2010 Athletic Budgets

Student passes (~30,000) sold out for the season: yep.

Season tickets sold out for the season: yep.

The largest opening crowd in Kyle Field history, 86951, was just set against SMU. It ranks #6 on our all time records list. I expect to see down attendance for the game against Idaho but the rest of the season is Big XII opponents, possibly our last game against some of them and the crowds will be huge.

I can assure you that those financial problems the athletic department had are in the past. We turned a greater AD profit than all but 4 of the current SEC members (Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Florida) in 2009-2010. Only 22 of 228 public Division 1 schools do not lose money in athletics. In 2009-2010, those losing money include: Auburn, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Miss State and Tennessee.

Not Athletic Department related.

And did Texas somehow miss the higher education cuts in the state?

One source within the Big 12 told me, "multiple schools are reserving their right to pursue litigation" on any possible move of A&M to SEC.

A&M is in "limbo-land" now and is considering it's options, Loftin said. Getting legal waivers from all nine schools is unlikely, he said.
