What happens when the aggies join the sec schedule wise? Do we play one extra sec game than the eastern division does? Do we cancel an out of conference game?

There's a lot of options, but I think the most likely is like the MAC or some close variation. The MAC plays 8 conf games with a 7/6 team split. The 6 play a round robin plus 3 cross conf games (18 total). Since 18 is not divisable evenly by 7, they can't play a round robin. 3 teams play a round robin + 2 x conf (6 x conf), and 4 teams only play 5 within div and 3 x conf (12 x conf for a total of 18).

My guess would be you will still only play the normal allotment of conference games, 5 and 3, and just leave off one from your division.

Although the more likely scenario is that the SEC will be balanced and everyone will play 6 and 3.

6 and 2. I can't see the SEC increasing the number conference games. That would mean each team might lose a home game every other year.. just my opinion.

And somehow this "permanent East/West" opponent thing has to be worked out too.

If they get a 14th team I think that it being worked out will just mean it is done away with.

It's not like long standing games haven't been broken in the past.

The math doesn't work. 7 teams playing 3 x conf games is 21 games. 6 teams playing 3 x conf games is 18 games.

He was saying a 14th member to be added. At least I took it that way.

Losing a home game every other year would have been a big problem 20 years ago. The increase in tv$ will more than offset that loss.

If he was, then apply my comment to his prior sentence.

It would be like scheduling a quality OOC opponent to a home and away. The 9 game conf sched actually facilitates that by giving you a quality home game when you play away.

I hope you're right and the two teams that don't play tie for first in the division. This conference expansion sucks.

They have pretty adamant that the perm. opp. will not be done away with. Conf. expansion or not perm. opp. is stupid. If you have a big time rival they should be in your division. Then that stupid problem goes away.
