I love when LSU face plants itself.

Going back to 1976, the last 35 meetings, A&M leads Texas 18-17.

Going back to 1976, the last 11 meetings, A&M leads LSU 6-5.

Arbitrary dates in time can be a mother.

as someone else explained, its not arbirary or just selected to suit an argument. UT dominated when A&M was a small, all male, military school. Congrats! After A&M transitioned to a modern, state school, the series has more or less been equal.

By bring up the record vs LSU you provide yet another example of arrogant Texas fans trying to defelect the reason why you won't continue the series.

And really is 6-5 is supposed to be some kind of boom on LSU

They dominated us when we had Curley fricking Hallman as our coach. Just like everyone else not named Mississippi State

Hey you ut fricks,

Consider the circumstances of the time periods when you whooped our arse. Like Scholarship limitations? yeahhhhhh. LSU and ut fielded 3 different levels of teams that were better than our varsity. Recruiting 150 guys a year to a all-male military school is impossible, so that's why picking an "arbitrary" date, where scholarship limitiations exist, is relevant.

Which reminds me, when did LSU's defense stop being called the chinese bandits?

I don't understand why there are so many sip trolls on this board. They have made it perfectly clear that they want to remain in their conference with OU and any combination of eight bitches, yet here they are on an SEC board going on and on about how much they have dominated a series that they are hell bent on ending.

Wouldn't your time be better spent preparing for next weekend's road trip to perennial powerhouse Iowa State?

Texas will not play TAMU if the brain trust at UT (Powers, Dodds and Brown) decides that it helps TAMU in recruiting. Since it probably helps TAMU in recruiting, you can probably guess that we will not see the rivalry continue.

Don't worry, A&M, you won't feel like playing the game anymore. You'll have two built-in rivals waiting for you, along with two schools who stole your coaches. You'll be fine.

Your president has offered to play UT any time anywhere, so you have done your part to keep the rivalry intact.

Texas will not play A&M because of their immense ego pride. They rather discontinue a 115+ year rivalry, instead of playing the game against a school that didn't follow what they said. Childish behavior really. They are just butthurt that things didn't go according to plan. They are butthurt because someone actually called them out (LHN related), and because of it all of this has happened.

A&M's stance regarding the LoneStar Showdown has been "Any place, anytime". We will not be responsible for the discontinuation of this rivalry. The ball is on Texas' court.

There are basically two reasons the sips wouldn't want to continue the series:

1) Fear about getting beat.
2) Ego's were hurt when we decided to leave the conference against their wishes.

second one reads more like the truth to me - although it is cutting off their nose to spite their face IMO.

Texas should want A&M on their schedule because there is pretty much no other team coming to Austin that will draw real interest from the Longhorns going to home games

It's the whole "cut nose spite face" thing.

Bitches which you cannot seem to beat on the football field recently. Good luck after your seniors graduate this year and you head to the SEC!

FWIW, I think UT should continue to play TAMU.

..yet you guys wonder why people think you're arrogant. A&M would arguably be "providing" Texas with more by playing on a regular basis. Someone already pointed out the weakness of Texas' home schedule for 2012... that won't get any better in current Big XII. A game in Austin against A&M would easily be the largest draw and would go a ways to legitimize Texas' SOS as an SEC opponent.

Our rivalry game is a guarantee TV game for the Aggies...how many of their other games can they count on being on TV? Instead of provide, maybe I should have said ensure instead?

The Aggies will surely get more TV exposure in the SEC but moreso based on opponent prestige(LSU, Bama, UF, etc.) and not because they are such a strong national brand your avg fan wants to see IMO.

BTW, I agree with your point regarding SOS. In 2012, we'll see how much if any our sked takes a hit in SOS by replacing the Ags with Ole Miss.

I've lurked around on this board for quite some time but just recently registered. If I had a 2nd fave team it would be the Tigers as I saw plenty of LSU on TV growing up in Texas. Not here to troll, flame or whatever..just wanted to participate in some conversation with folks who I know are passionate about football as I am.

This isn't the first time the sips have cancelled our series.

They did it in 1911. They quit playing us until we fired our coach, because we beat them 3 or 4 years in a row.

There may not be one game they will have to get a guarenteed spot, like that, but A&M vs LSU, Arky and Bama will most likely be on TV every year. Having the game on is benefical to both schools, you just furthered proved the point that Texas refusing to play A&M is out of petty spite.

It's a guaranteed NATIONAL TV game for Texas, too. I know Texas isn't struggling for national appeal, but I'm not sure games against Iowa State, Baylor, Kansas, Kansas State would ever be anything higher than Tier 2 or Tier 3 (and that's half of the conference).

The SEC is the strong national brand that your average fan wants to see. That's the huge difference between the Big XII and the SEC.

GulfCoastPoke, I wasn't trying to call OSU anyone's bitch. I was saying that OU (and Texas) don't care if there is anyone of any quality in their league as long as it keeps its AQ status. I wasn't trying to say that there wasn't anyone of any quality in the league, just that it doesn't matter to those guys. It's all about the easiest route to BCS bowl money.

Oklahoma-Texas is not a guaranteed TV game. Must mean that game stinks.
