Mizzou to the SEC, about as smart as recent Netflix moves

the SEC is where it is because of its fans. they're irrationally passionate about CFB. A&M fits this. VaTech fits. WVU fits. Mizzou does not belong.

Just had to vent.

Too bad it's not based on culture.

Are Kentucky and Vandy fans irrationally passionate about CFB?

As long as Alabama and Tennessee can have it their way, and get two other schools to vote with them(Auburn/Georgia?) you don't have to worry about them.

Fair enough, and I think to a degree you could add S. Carolina in there. but do we really want to add more of that in the mix? Yearly rivalries play a huge part of fans' enjoyment. Losing a yearly w Auburn or Bama would def impact that. Replacing one/both of those w A&M and Mizzou would suck *ss.

That's starting to be a common feeling around here as well.
The longer this thing drags out, the more likely it is that Mizzou won't be here.

Maybe you missed it last year when Mizzou beat Oklahoma and the fans carried the goal post through campus downtown to Harpo's.

Maybe you missed Mizzou hosting the largest ESPN College Game Day crowd EVER.

Maybe you missed the fact that Mizzou invented the concept of Homecoming around football.

My guess is you have never been to a Mizzou football game in Columbia. And I am certain you have never been to a Missouri vs. Kansas game. Irrational Passion doesn't begin to describe it.

Well, I'll say this for that rivalry, it is the only one in the U.S. that actually has its roots in actual bloody conflict and killings. The kids who played in the first MU and KU games were the sons and grandsons of people who went back and forth across the border murdering, raping, and pillaging each other.

So, at least they have that going for them.

I can't speak for Vandy fans, but I can about UK fans because I lived in that state 14 years - and so it's like this: UK fans are off the charts passionate about UK basketball. UK football fans are also passionate about UK football. They fill Commonwealth Stadium, they scream, they tailgate, they travel. UK is absolutely a passionate football school, even though they don't have the great records to prove it. The years they are winning, they are absolutely crazed.

My family is from that area near the border, and as long as KU continues to use the name Jayhawk, I will continue to fly the black Quantrill flag. Most people, especially in the south, don't realize the history of Missouri and its cultural ties to the south. The SEC has rivalries among the southern states. Missouri and Kansas revive civil war hard feelings every year.

Everything Aux said is true. People comment on Mizzou and have no clue.

UK Fans want the head coach and AD gone because of what they see as an uncompetitive football program. Yes, although the record doesn't match, Kentucky fans are very passionate about their football.

This, people talk about rivalries, but none have the extreme hate and past that Mizzou-Kansas has.

WV has some good fans, but the majority of the fanbase I encountered were exponentially trashier than LSU fans, the worst in the conference. SEC needs to be moving up the ladder, not down the ladder.

VT has strong military ties like aTm, they would match up well as partners entering together. Sorry dude, but I would rather Tulane over WV, and I fricking hate Tulane

I have respect for WV and their football team but you could place alot of teams in the Big East and they would have more success on the field.

yea but this topic at hand is about a southern culture fit not a military college and the corps at VT is not that big or anything like aTM.

Both towns are in very similar coal mining regions and the fans in sw va of both schools are southern but the VT fans from DC which is the majority now days where the students come from and go back to after school, DC suburbanite fans are far from southern
