Mizzou fans: break down your recruiting

Why are so many players from Texas? Do St. Louis an KC not produce enough talent for MU or do the kids not stay in state?
IYO, does a move to the SEC help in locking down the state players?

I would think the better athletes come from Texas rather than Missouri. If I was their HC that's where i would look first. Hell, their best player ever came from Texas

It's not just Missouri. Look through rosters. Texas high school talent is stocking the entire Big 12. High school football is crazy here.

I think they need to start implementing football camps and programs across the state. I know Pinkel has attempted to do this, but they need a lot of help with recruiting.
If they could increase interest in the state, they would become a monster. Very similar to LSU, they are the ONLY in state program around. Plus, they ave a bigger population than LA.
Obviously this should start in areas like St. Louis and KC, but it should be spread across the state.
I've lived in MO and I know firsthand that MU football support is non existent (compared to SEC state schools) in parts of the state. And by non existent, I mean that you'll probably not even hear much about the conference change in that state. People won't really even be talking about it. They will, however, be talking about the Cards championship and the Chiefs game today.

More like UK. The talent level is about the same as Missouri's.

I'm not talking about current talent level. Missouri COULD e better at football than most schools. They have all the resources, but haven't utilized them.
Tennessee and Kentucky wouldn't be comparable if they locked the state up and the people just cared more.

The deciding factor is whether those kids commit first, or Mizzou has their first sub 6 win season in awhile first IMO. Which will most likely happen in their first 3 years.

If Mizzou can hold on to their TX recruiting and A&M in the conference will help that, and they can lock down the talent MO does produce, and then branch out and pull a couple of players from new territory I think they have the chance to be a decent SEC team. I see them as another Arkansas.

Maybe. But at the expense of which current SEC team? That's something people here tend to forget. There are only so many wins to go around.

The mess that is the East right now take your pick, but UF and UT will find their way back. They will battle for 2-4 in the east, of course some years they will be lower.

Mizzou will have a much tougher time recruiting Texas now

Missouri has lost a ton of instate talent over the years to the Big 10 schools for a long time. The Big 10 was always seen as being a bigger name conference than the Big 12.
In recent years, a lot of players have been lost to the SEC. Hopefully that will change now that kids can play for the home state school while being in the premier conference.

This. I imagine they will have a few great years mixed in with very average years for the next 10-15 years.

they don't produce that much talent
pretty sure MO is more of a basketball state
