Big east has no business having a auto BCS bid

The Big East has a 6-7 record in BCS games. Based on winning percentage that is better than the ACC, Big 10, and the Big 12. Just saying..

Is the Big East in the same league as those conferences? Not really, but the Big East shouldn't be penalized because when other Conferences look for new members they typically come after the Big East.

Lets not forget that the U, VTech, and others came from the Big East. I'd argue that if the ACC hadnt made a habit of dipping into the BE that the BE may be the 3rd best Conference in college football right now. Who's to say that WVU, USF, or another school isnt the next big thing?

As long as WVU anchors the BE it will be an AQ conference

Saw a couple flaws in that article. Unless they altered the contract, an AQ conference does have to meet certain standards to maintain an autobid. (In fact, the BE failed that test a few years ago and got a waiver).

Another issue--the B(C)S contract expires every few years and has to be renewed. There is no explicit or implied guarantee for the Big East, or any other conference, to be included in the next deal.

The real reason the BE has an autobid is that with the autobid, there were 66 AQ schools and 54 coalition schools, going by the last time the contract was renewed. Without the Big East, there would have been 58 and 62, which would have allowed the coalition schools to outvote the AQs and impose NCAA legislation.
