If Missou is #14, who does the Big 12 add to get back to 10?

They'll invite Louisville. Not sure how the Louisville admin feels about it.

With current leadership - Houston.
If going more:
BYU - First choice - probably stays indp.
Boise - wants it, but not likely.
SMU - wants it, possible.
Louisville - possible, makes no sense, but possible.
Tulane - wishful thinking.
UL - not a chance.
Air Force - academic issues.
ND - Giant in the valley - no chance.
San Diego St. - A reach, but think about it.

They stay at ten & wait it out.

Apparently, they were rejected because they refuse to give up their network. How appropriate.

I think we've resigned ourselves to the fact Missouri will be #14 for the SEC, so that does leave the UT/OU conference in a bit of a quandary.

Who can they add without watering the conference down further?

They have Kansas, Kansas State, Iowa State, Baylor and Texas Tech that are only going to be competitive occasionally. And that's just competitive, not contending although I expect they'll luck into contending once a decade or two.

You've got Oklahoma and Texas with Oklahoma State as a pretty fair 3rd team, even though they've never won the conference they do at least seem to be a program trending toward being a contender.

They're adding TCU, which isn't bad, although I'm a bit hesitant about putting them into the contender category they should at least be competitive.

They will need teams who can be competitive. Who's on that list?

West Virginia, they're going to be looking for a home.

Boise State, they'd love it.

BYU, the free agent. I suspect they're just waiting on a Pac-14/16 invite.

I just don't see much the UT/OU conference can add outside those 3 that doesn't water the conference down further. Now I expect UT might be just fine with that, I suspect the other conferences getting better, and the UT/OU conference getting much more top heavy their prestige is going to wane, as well as their ability to be competitive in the big OOC games.

Not many big schools will want to schedule OU or Texas OOC if they are already in a 14 or 16 team conference.

There could be a longterm effect on their recruiting (even if small) that is detrimental to those 2. Texas will have a one game season most years. That's pretty boring

A 9 team conference makes for a nice 8 game conference schedule.

Word on the street is Louisville. Who knows how true that is, though.

The way things are trending, you might want to flip Oklahoma State and t.u.
