Presidents to meet this weekend to discuss future.

They are almost down to the minimum to maintain their BCS status, but need to consider :

Rutgers & UConn have applied to ACC

WVU campaigning to the SEC

TCU has an out & Neinas says additional TX schools possible.

Cinn, Louisville & USF left treading water, but good programs that will land on their feet.

With the last minute heroics of the Big12(10-1), the BigE looks like it's headed to B-ball.

Typo corrected - cell phone, arthritis & bud causes that.

Rumor is WVU, UConn, UL, Cincy, and Rutgers are going to vote to dissolve the conference. That would mean no penalty for leaving, and no 27 month wait.

Wrong. USF and Louisville have been members of the Big East for a few years now. Louisville won the league in 06 and South Florida almost won it a few times.

UL, Cincy, and South Florida should bring in East Carolina, Southern Miss, Tulane, Memphis, Houston, UAB, and Army.

no way a conference like that should keep its AQ status

Louisville fans think they have their Big 12 invite in hand (maybe they do?), but Pitino will retire or be fired before he coaches a Big 12 team.

BE shouldn't have an autobid anyway.

But what I did there was look up the 2004 membership of CUSA. Mostly as a humor bit--they raid CUSA in 2004-05, only to end up being CUSA under a different name, and Cincy/UL stuck in a conference with their old conference mates.

The beginning of the end for Big East FB was when it kicked out Temple for not being "competitive" enough. That pretty much set the precedent for the schools to stop giving a damn about the future of the conference and only think of themselves. Also throw in Donna Shalala and Miami's desire to up its academic reputation when in reality the big east has a lot of great schools spelled the end of the conference.

Big East basketball has a lot of great schools. BE bball/football schools have awful academics. Louisville, WVU, and USF would all be dead last in US News rankings in the SEC.

get bashed for low requirements to get in not the actual school itself the only reason the standards are so low is that every wv hs kid has a chance to go to college

I'm not bashing. I don't think it should matter at all but that is gonna hurt WVU when it comes to expansion.
