I just hate to read BS like MU>>>WVU football. People who say that prove that they don't know anything about college football history, even recent history, when they say things like that.
Eta: Where did anyone say that?

I love how he mistakes an equals sign (possibly a tilde) for not one, not two, but three greater than signs.

Its not that close, especially in the last 40 years. Missouri has been a doormat for most of my 34 years on this planet, while WV has played for a NC, was a c-hair from playing for another , and has won multiple major bowl games.

Why the hell do we pass on WV for missouri.
The only way this expansion makes any sense is if the SEC announces a new network here in the future. Otherwise, CBS and ESPN are going to take a big yawn when it comes time to ask for more $$.

Where did you get those conference championship numbers for Missouri?
I see two in the BIG 8. Last one in 1969.

Well, in a 10 team conference that is considered so strong by people, you are going to have 5 teams in the top half and five teams in the bottom half...where will WVU and TCU, who have enjoyed relatively easy conference play over the years, fall?
Comparing WVU and Missouri is like comparing apples and oranges...it isn't fair to Mizzou since they have had to play a much harder conference slate...

There is another aspect to consider. Take Mizzou now before they possibly get mixed up with the Big 10 later on down the road. On the other hand, the whole WVU/Big 12 thing seems like a bad fit. WVU will still be there from the taking, even if we take them from the Big 12, should we ever decide that we want them.

They've been in the Big 12 North, Chicken. It hasn't been a murderers row in at least the last decade.
The vast majority of those Missouri conference championships came in the Missouri Interstate Football Association, and the Missouri Valley Conference. All of them pre 1930.
After they Joined the Big 6, which became the Big 8, they totaled two championships.... they didn't often come close to challenging in that two horse (OU & NU) league.
WVU played Penn State and Pitt most years, which in the same timeframe, was, in itself, as toughthe a slate as the Big 8.
One of WVU's modern major bowl victories came against Missouris Big12 big brother, OU. The other came against the big bad SEC rep UGa. Missouri hasn't come close to any of that alone.
MU is not ===== to WVU as an athletic program.

There are about the same at football. Mizzou is light years ahead in academics and prestige. We are getting the better fit.

Looks like they've both been pretty meh till recently. although mizzou did have a stretch in the 80s and 90s where they were pretty bad.

Yeah having 5 players drafted in 1st round in the last 3 NFL drafts is the sign of a bad team.
Winning 40 games over 4 years is a bad football team.
They were rated Number 1 in the BCS in 2007 and only feel out of the shot at the NC game because they choked against Oklahoma in the Big 12 championship game. They finished ranked 5th that year. and three out of the last 4 years were ranked in the top 20 at the end of the season.
Bad teams don't do those things. Believe me I know bad teams as it's a fact that after Dan Devine left MU in 1969 they pretty much tanked for about 30 years. Since Gary Pinkel has been back they are doing much better.
Having not played WVU I wont say MU is better at this point in time because I respect WVU also.
I still think WVU should say no the Big 12 and in a few years would possibly get an invite to the SEC when/if it goes to 16. Believe me the Big 12 is a cancer.

You're making them out to be the Green Bay Packers in this thread.
Its closer than that.

Slightly better. And they've been playing in a shite conference. So it's a wash

Would you say that beating '07 Arkansas in the Cotton Bowl is MUs biggest bowl win in the modern era?

Without out a doubt in my mind the TCU & WVU combo and Texas A&M & Mizzou combo would be very close in best additions...

I don't know, I like to cut it off at 1970, maybe back to the sixties, since most of the bases for the modern conferences we are talking about were pretty well formed by then.
