So what's the problem? Well, it's not so much that Louisville made some kind of last minute presentation to the Big 12 or anything as much as it's the fact that the schools aren't all in agreement that West Virginia is the better choice.

Assumming the conference actually votes on the 10th member, who stands where?

TCU/Mizzou- do either get a vote?
OK State(Pickens) "needs to be convinced on West Virginia"
Are Texas & OU on the same page? West Virginia is claiming that McConnelll got Boren to switch to UL.
Does Baylor get a vote or have they traded it to Texas?

I realize this conference is completely dysfunctional, and probably wont be around in ten years. I love these two quotes is morning.

quote:

"I can't confirm the accuracy or inaccuracy of that report. All I'd say is Texas and Oklahoma are working very well together right now," Boren said.

Athletic director Joe Castiglione said he, too, was caught off-guard when the Big 12 announced Monday that there were discussions by the league's board of directors about creating a "conference dedicated TV network."

"I really don't have the information to support why they made that statement," Castiglione said, noting that athletic directors weren't part of the board meeting. "It has not been broached, or at least not recently."

"Maybe they're trying to build a consensus or excitement and anticipation," he added. "I don't know."

I'm in favor of WVU.

Solid football and basketball teams.

In terms of geography it sucks.

In terms of academics(for those that give a damn) it's poor(but no worse than TTech or OSU).

Bottom line is who else(not already committed)worth a damn is worth inviting and actually wants to be in the Big whatever right now?

from what i can gather the tv folks want the big 12 to take wvu but there are a number of big 12 schools that want louisville. i think a lot of the problems people have with louisville involves travel and having to fly into pittsburgh just to get there.

chuck carlton tweeted this last night, which is what i think will eventually happen:

Because of the messy, awkward situation, two sources say Big 12 might consider Louisville and WVU together as a compromise.

I wonder if it will be a two for one. Both teams split 1/10th of the TV revenue? It's been rumored that UL would take less than a full share. I just dont see Texas & OU giving away money.

I truly hope the Big 12 pulls together a solid and stable group of competitive teams... WITHOUT MIZZOU!

This is exactly why the Bevo conference is doomed to fail. Sure, Louisville and WV are desperate and will bend over in order abandon the sinking ship they're on; something is better than the alternative.

What happens if either Louisville and/or WV become national powers on a regular basis?
Answer: They'll want an equal share and Dumb and Dumber won't give in...ergo, continued bitching and fragmented loyalty.

Nah man, you got it all wrong. Texas is the root of all evil and A&M has heroically battled for equality of all schools. They are literally the college football Robin Hood.

Actually, according to U.S. News and World Report, it is:

Oklahoma State - 132
Texas Tech - tied at 160
West Virginia - tied at 164 with Louisville

If the SEC could find a worth 16th team, I'd love to have both WV and Mizzou.

That being said, I don't see a worthy 16th team out there.

I believe WVU was supposed to be getting an equal share the whole time. It was UL that proposed they and Cincy would be fine with taking a smaller share.
