Change the names and years on your post and it looks like Gus Malzahns resume that Auburn was looking at when they hired him.

Guz Malzahn, one year at Arkansas State, 9-3, a conference championship, no major bowl win.

Tom Herman, one year at Houston, 13-1, conference championship, win over Florida State in a major bowl.

So you're wrong.

That is why he was not an option last year. He is the first coach to ever sign a 5* kid to a G5 school. Beat FSU last year and OU this year. Granted that win does not look as good now. Btw his Qb is a converted WR. He brings youth, enthusiasm, pedigree and head coaching experience.

Gus Malzahns resume

Who did Gus Malzahn study under? Who did he learn how to be a head coach under?

The answer isn't Urban Meyer who has shown he can build a championship program with the best of all time.

Is Herman a guarantee? Hell no, especially since Meyer and Saban may be around for 5+ more years. However, there are no more "established" coaches that people will be happy with. Jimbo just lost by 40 points with a far more star studded roster than his approach. Those games happen sometimes but his stock probably dropped a bit

His resume looks a lot like Urban's did when he was at Utah

Or like Butch's when he went to Tenn.

Not really. Butch followed Brian Kelly at every spot without really providing anything of his own at those spots.

Tom Herman is the real deal. He doesnt eat grass. He doesnt babble like an idiot and he is great at developing qbs. He doesnt have any baggage or off the field issues. That alone is an improvement from our previous HC. Pay the man whatever it takes!

Ok sorry. I should have used Rich Rod as an example.

I agree with your premise, just don't think Butch is the best example.

Rich Rod probably had a better resume than Herman does given how long he was at WV
