He is an unproven coach. One full year as a head coach. Kevin Sumlin was 12-1 his last year at Houston. Would you want him?

Exactly. Dude is a scrub. The hard on everyone on the rant has for him is hilarious.

I do. Still doesn't mean he is established. He could be amazing or he could flame out. To act like there is no risk involved is delusional.

You can say that about any hire. Of corse there is risk involved.

Please tell us of all the coaches who would come in with a better resume than Herman and zero risk.

This goes for any coach that is hired. There are no guarantees

17-1 as a head coach. Broyles award winner as top assistant. OC for tOSU for national title and 12-0 year (no bowl). Combine his 3 years at tOSU as OC and at UH and he's 55-4 in the last 4+ years.

He's a winner.

Change the names and years on your post and it looks like Gus Malzahns resume that Auburn was looking at when they hired him.

You're taking a chance with ANYONE.

I'm not overly excited about Jimbo.

I just think LSU is one of the top programs in the country. Not a school for learning on the job.

Gus Malzahn can credit his rise to Cam Newton.

Tom Herman can credit his to Cardale Jones.

But yea, same coach basically.

His resume looks a lot like Urban's did when he was at Utah

i agree. jimbo just got embarrassed at home as the #2 team in the country. everyone has their warts but Tom Herman/Jimbo Fisher all would be considered great hires.

If we get this one right then that would be 3 in a row great hires for LSU.
