Why is a break on Texas website so credible?

Serious question.
Why is it taken as fact and thrown on ESPN and blasted all over the planet? What difference would it be if it were reported that a thread on here was the solid info? Is the thread started by someone with super credentials?

It was reported by a UT insider then confirmed by some dude at espn ( who I'm guessing has other sources besides the one who broke the story ).

Because LSU made a play for Herman. Texas didn't fire Strong. And they continued to reiterate that they weren't going to until the end of the season.
Texas boosters are livid as evidenced by the Ketchum tweet with the info leaked from a very pro Herman Texas booster. They usurped the process. Leaked the info. Tried to put themselves in a position to hired Herman.

The ticker didn't exactly confirm the information was legit. The way they worded it they may have been saying that Chris low confirmed that they reported it.
