Been at Penn State for years now. Goes 4-5, rights the ship so far this year, but that resume wows us? What has he done at PSU? Once upon a time got to the Rose Bowl with Saquon Barkley? You can’t fire O two years after a championship for failing to follow up and then go after a guy like that. If you want to be up there with the big boys, you need a big boy coach.

Big Ten championship, 3 NY6 bowls, and 3 top-10 finishes.

Now tell us what your desired candidate has done.

Riley or Fickell. Riley’s made the CFP multiple times and become to most sought after QB coach in the country. Fickell picked Cincinnati up out of the basement and has them in the playoff hunt consistently now. A lot more impressive than one conference championship and 3 NY6 bowls. I’m not looking for an NY6 bowl coach; I’m looking for a CFP coach.

He stays out of blondes beds. He doesn’t scream at opposing teams fans. His public behavior doesn’t bring a negative image to the program.

not sure that he should, but he put Penn State on a much quicker track to be better this year than O did. At least before Clifford's injury.

NOT COVERED UP RAPE????maybe....i know its a high bar, but one i think we need to get over.

possibly not lose 6 game in a season twice and have a losing season??? again .......high bar, but damn i think we can somehow find someone that is better.

Word is, Fickell has already said he isn't coming to Louisiana.

What has Franklin ever done in his career even if not recent to warrant this job?

The point is not why not O. It’s why Franklin.

Cincinnati was never really in the basement so I don’t buy this argument. Butch Jones and Brian Kelly were plenty successful there.

Then you fired the coach too soon without a legit strategy. I’d rather take one more shitty year with O And get a real coach than be stuck with mediocrity for the next 3-5.

Yes he is better than O. But that’s not the bar at LSU. Or at least it shouldn’t be.

Franklin also has the #2 recruiting class right now plus his team is in the top 10.

Who are your realistic candidates?

True but that’s skewed because he has the most recruits. He’s behind Alabama with about 10-15 more recruits than them right now. They are top-10, but you think they’re beating OSU in two weeks?

If you want to be in the same level as Clemson or OSU, you need to make Riley and Fickell realistic candidates. Or you keep the leash super tight until someone better than Franklin comes around. It’s the only game in town fallacy.

that was my point. franklin did title ix violations way worse than O, has worse record than O. wtf we going after him for? not like he steadily built up penn state. he has been up and down.

I'd prefer those guys too, but the likelihood of attracting either of those guys is slim to none.

And as much as I love Fickell, he didn't exactly "pull them out of the basement". He has credited Brian Kelly for what was built there.
