No one, b/c Gus calls most of the plays any way

Not according to Gus. In 2013 that was the case, but he's expanded Rhett's play calling role. Gus has the final say, but Rhett calls the plays. Just in the last few weeks (I think the Arkansas game) Gus said in the post game interview as he walking off the field "Rhett called most of the plays that worked".

This never gets old.

How many years need to go by for this not to be relevant to you guys? If you tell me 20 or 30 it basically means near his retirement.

Never knew that starting your coaching career in high school was so frowned upon. As opposed to washing jocks in a college locker room as a GA.

Gus' problem is not running game coordination. He's got that down. He needs someone to be the passing game coordinator.

Perhaps.

But the biggest issue of Gus's career is the lack of quarterback development. He needs to get his head out of his arse and let his players go to quarterback camps and get coached up by a variety of minds.

Outside of Cam Newton and Chris Todd, Gus has never had a quarterback display remotely good technique or fundamentals. He's been lucky to have a senior in Todd who had been coached by numerous experts and Cam Newton, who we all know.

The only reason why Marshall was able to have so much success was because the running game was so potent that two NFL caliber receivers were left on an island most passing plays. Pretty easy to have nice yard numbers when you can launch it to Sammie Coates in one on one coverage.

Nick also was not afraid to take a hit and had played basketball. His athleticism allowed him to make "passable" passes. You ever know someone who isnt good at what they do, but theyre too smart to be bad at it?

That was Nick, but with being QB. Too athletic to be bad at it.

I've never understood the calls for Lashlee's job when the offense runs through Malzahn. Firing a figurehead coordinator to appease the fan base would be the most gutless thing ever.

Malzahn's problem is that his playbook only has 4 plays, which are run out of 40 different formations, and those plays don't work unless you have a phenomenal athlete at QB. That's not a playcalling problem, it's a philosophy problem.
