Why we would assume he doesn't?

This assumes that Aranda leaves and the new coach needs to hire a new DC.

Who you got?

Throw the bank at Aranda, make him the highest paid DC in college football. If he still leaves, go after Pelini.

That being said, if we get Herman, I don't see Aranda going anywhere. If we get Fisher, I'm not sure what he does. If we get Fedora, he gone. If we stick with O, he gone.

I really like what Mike Hays at Kansas State is doing.

I really like what Todd Orlando is doing at Houston.

Those would be my two if we could not keep Dave Aranda

Chicken, I get the sense that you really don't want Orgeron, maybe Herman, I'm sensing you want Jimbo really bad.

Just one question.

IF LSU loses Aranda, with Aranda being the best def cord out there, what LSU might gain in offense it could lose on defense?

I'd gladly take Orgeron if he proves himself and LSU manages to hang on to Aranda.

Settle the Lawsuit and bring Chavis back, but with the stipulation that his headset is shut off on third downs and the last two minutes.

Who is herman's DC right now? I thought I remember him lobbying his arse off for this guy. Supposedly they are really close. Hopefully he would go with Herman

How long is Aranda under contract or can he opt out?

And for the talent, I'm sure. I agree he didn't come b/c of Miles. I might have read into his sideline demeanour, but it looked more like he had no love lost for Miles. He's either here for a chance at the head coaching spot or as a springboard for another HC spot somewhere else.

It's true Aranda is making top dollar as a coordinator. However, I've wondered whether Aranda came because of the money AND that he would be a strong candidate to take over for Miles assuming Miles lasted a few years. Does anyone know if Aranda aspires to be a HC and if so when? That may be the biggest factor in whether he stays or goes.

As for Pelini, how was his relationship with Fisher? Were they friends or at least did they respect each other? I have to say that if the Aranda situation is unstable I feel better about hiring Herman and letting the chips fall where they may than I do about Fisher in the same circumstances.

Chicken's post makes it sound like Aranda will be gone after this season, that means Orgeron obviously is not around too. That's two great talents that would be leaving LSU. Where's the sense in that?

Aranda is the best def coord LSU could possibly hire, he's about to make a big asss statement coaching LSU's defense, he'll prove it. Keeping Orgeron helps lock in Aranda.

have to admit, when miles was fired this was one of the first things i thought of.. I happen to think he stays, he wanted to come here.. I think he is here for a while too.. kinda like Smart at Bama.. I could be wrong though... I would for damn sure as the AD lock him into a contract though and tell everyone we interview that if you dont want Aranda then leave this office because you just proved youre stupid... i would make the new HC take him.. and I wouldnt stop there.. I would make him keep Jaluke (you have to have that New Orleans Connection) I would make him keep Craig, Raymond, and possibly Grimes..
Oregeron is not going to want to stay after being passed up for the head job. But I would offer him Associate Head Coach and Aranda Assistant Head Coach.. The new coach can bring in an OC/TE/Special Teams coach.. If Aranda wants a new DB coach, let him hire who he wants and stay out of the way. If you have to hire another DL coach, same thing.. give it to Aranda and stay out of his way..

I really really really want to keep Aranda, but the HC position is more way important than DC. We shouldnt have to settle for O just to keep a coordinator.

I'm not sure I follow the logic that hiring O "locks in Aranda." If we hire O, we need to make sure Aranda is locked up. Otherwise, there's a good chance the program will slide.
