This assumes that Aranda leaves and the new coach needs to hire a new DC.

Who you got?

If the defense continues to go in the direction it's going, I'm all for giving Arranda a raise and extension

Aranda is the best guy out there IMO. Don't really know who is out there oddly. Defense has taken a backseat.

Why would we need to hire a new DC?

New coach would be a moron to get rid of Aranda.

Since this thread was started by Chicken, I'm guessing he knows something, so this is a good deduction.

By the way, I think this is a smart topic. Aranda signed up to coach under Miles. No guarantee that he'll want to work with the next coach or if the next coach wants to bring his own DC. I wonder if Joe has talked to Dave about what it would take to have him back. Or if during the season, it's still protocol to go through his agent.

I'm not suggesting he knows he wants out right now, but who the next coach is will certainly be a factor.

Why would we assume he leaves?

Not assuming, just preparing. Have to be prepared for all sorts of dominoes to fall when you fire a coach.

Right, he signed up to coach with an offense that struggled to move the ball and leaves his defense out on the field. I'm sure he'll be elated to have a coach who can move the chains. The only way he goes is if the new coach brings his own and just doesn't want one of the better DC's in the game.

ETA: And lets be honest, he didn't come here for Miles, he came here for a hefty pay raise.
