No matter if you hate the Coach O hire or love it, I think everyone agrees that the only way Coach O succeeds is with an elite OC. How many truly elite OCs are out there and how many do we have a shot at?

If he cannot he gone in 3 years. It's that simple. Pro O crowd will get what they deserve.

Ensminger's gonna be the fall back plan like O was. So that's who we will likely get.

8-4 at best and O would be gone in 3-4 years.

Then we're fricked. This entire hiring is contingent on continuity and putting together a "great staff" full of "phenomenal names." Alleva guarantees delivering on 90% of those names. If they can't do that then they will be immediately and completely proven to be full of shite and beyond a shadow of a doubt incompetent, if you weren't already at that conclusion.

If we go 8-4 then O should be immediately on the hot seat, and if we do worse then he should be immediately fired.

That's where I think you're wrong. The excuses and fan sentiment for the good ol Cajun baw will make it nearly impossible to can him regardless of how much he stinks it up.

Doesn't every team want to hire a great offensive coordinator?

His contract is not hanging over our heads if he tanks hard year one he'll be gone and won't even make it three years. I don't like how this went down but I think he's on a very short leash as far as meeting expectations

Why hell, O is just gonna go around the corner to the Elite Offensive Coordinator Convenience Store and pick one up. That one leaves? Just go pick up another.

It doesn't have to be an "elite" OC. O set records with a TE coach calling plays. LSU needs an OC that won't rely on fullbacks and blocking TEs

His language. These are the expectations that he is setting with this hiring and what he has said in his interviews the last couple of days. I'm pretty dubious about the whole thing myself, but here's to hoping for the best.
