the answer is NOTHING.

and they have given us fans and the media NOTHING. I suspect the leaks won't start happening until about 24 hours prior to an announcement.

and it may not be after this weekends games which seems to be the prevailing opinion oh here.

I personally believe LSU is doing everything it can to pull off a home run hire. we have the resources and we will offer top pay. that is by means a certainty of success but I sure hope we get lucky. damnit, it's time for a break.

If we don't know by 2:00PM Sunday, it will indicate that something has gone terribly wrong.

They "owe" us a good coach at the end of it

There is no LSU football if no one watches.

No, they owe their best effort. There's no way to know if a hire is championship caliber except in retrospect. If there was a clear-cut championship caliber hire out there, we wouldn't have all this arguing back and forth about who should be hired.

i'm sure they're trying man. just hope we don't end up like Tejas did with Strong.

no matter, we needed to move on from Miles.

From one GrandDad to another, they only owe us a successful result. This is one place where transparancy during the search/negotiations is probably a negative.

Other than a quality coach, he owes us nothing.

But that won't stop fans from claiming Alleva botched it even if both Fisher and Herman turn us down.

Exactly... How many NC winning coaches are in cfb right now?

One of them is on the shortlist... Thats about as good as you can do unless you just have insanely stupid money to burn

Something positive to make up for last year's colossal screw-up.

The answer is the best damn coach available. This is LSU. This is the big boys, and i'm sure the mf'r knew that when he accepted the job.

JA has duty to do a professional search and keep it quiet. He must hire a top tier coach.

He owes us (the fans) more than the flimsy rhetoric in his "I got this" letter to fans. That was a page full of generic adjectives and empty assurances. Had he smeared it out in smelly poo with his thumb, I'd have about the same amount of confidence as I do now in his handling of affairs.

Revisiting a few of Alleva's assurances, here's a snippet of what he identified as "very specific" guidelines for the next head coach:

- excellence and character
- high standards of integrity
- skilled, relentless recruiter
- motivate players and hold them accountable
- instinct to adapt
- leader

Hmmm- good thinking by Alleva. It's November, you're winding down the coaching search (i.e., your legacy to-be), and this is what you offer in terms of assurance, basically that Rush Probst won't get the job?

Alleva owes us higher competence and better judgment than he's exercised in the past year. And when the dust settles, for better or worse, a transparent message that's free of condescension and rhetoric. In sum, real assurance he gave his best effort to hire a coach who will win.
