Thoughts?

I think you'd like to keep him on staff, but I think it would be hard, ego wise, for any coach to step down and allow another guy to take over. No way to feel about that other than it being a demotion.

My guess...if O really wants to coach a Power 5 School, if he does well from here on out he should take the best available offer he gets to run a mid-major and do well there. After that, his name will likely surface as a Power 5 type coach when openings happen.

But, without having actually run a Program successfully for a few years you're asking that a program simply assume you'll be better at it than you were the last time you tried it.

All that happens...maybe one day an Orgeron that's killed it somewhere else will come back to LSU and be the guy.

Another thing about O, is if he isn't offered the job, where else would he go? Do you think someone offers him a HC job elsewhere? Or even a DC job? Nothing materialized after USC. I don't know...just something to think about.

Why does this have to be the stand of why Coach O shouldnt be hired? The man stats that he is letting the coaches do their parts. We spend some money on a Top OC and Coach O lets this Guy implement his offense and keeps his hands off.

Here is the dangerous part of this hand-off philosophy: if the OC did well he could be lured away to be a hc at another school after just one year then LSU fb would tank next year if they could not find a top OC again. So it is a bigger risk to hire O as a ft HC than just to let him go after the season to prove himself at another mid-major school.

how can people say this without actually knowing this?

the man was not working prior to last year. Living in Mandeville, watching his 2 sons play at Mandeville high.

You may want to look a bit deeper and find out why. I will give you a hint, he quit his former job (DL coach) for not receiving the head coach job after filling in for his fired boss. (Kiffen).

I think he will stay if offered enough money and a good position. A dream team for us would be Jimbo, Aranda and Coach O. Have Coach O as Recruiting Coordinator and pay him the same as Aranda. Give him perks, whatever to keep him.

Coach O said last year he wouldn't take any head coaching job. The high profile jobs I just don't see hiring him, so his , percentage of staying at lsu is high in my opinion.

While coming home to Louisiana where his kids were playing high school ball

His situation now is different than anything in his past. He's from here. His family is here. His kids are playing college football here.

I know this guarantees nothing but if you can't see this major difference as to why there is a possibility he could stay here, I can't help you.

So, obviously, my interest would be very high. I'd be highly interested in getting that job. I think it would be a wonderful opportunity to go back there.

O hasn't failed us yet and he is winning with Miles coaches. Give him a fair shake . Asking the man to beat Bama this year is ridiculous. These other names being thrown around haven't set the world on fire the past two weeks. After all O did come in and give us two wins that I'm not sure Les could've. Down vote if ya want but this season was headed for the shitter with Les

I imagine offering him DL coach again would probably be a bit insulting.

That's life. If he stays he's at home and close to his family.

Fact is, no one will be out to steal him as a head coach besides maybe some smaller schools.

He will never be loyal to the next HC if he doesn't get the job. I am hoping for an LSU/Houston coach swap myself.

Well if he can't beat Bama with this team and talent, he isn't going to do it for another 3 years probably. Why y'all already making excuses for the guy.

I don't need to see any more games to know that Herman and Jimbo are 20 times the candidates that O is.

That's not to say O can't develop into a good HC, but he hasn't proven to be a top level guy like the other guys have. And that's not good enough for LSU
